This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff
United States
No favors
Today, I was pulled over. The cop seemed very familiar. Turns out he was a relative of mine whom I haven't spoken to in a very long time. We had decent conversation and caught up. He still gave me a ticket. FML

The cop has to do his job, no matter what.

if you were doing something wrong you should have gotten a ticket. why do you deserve special treatment?

Because some laws are stupid af and we don't know what OP did. Cops you don't even know will let you off with just a warning sometimes. Depending on what OP did, it wouldn't have been hard to just dismiss it, especially from a family member.

Some laws are stupid? Elections are soon. Run for president and change them. Until then, follow them no matter how stupid they are.

Just because you're a distant relative doesn't mean you are above having to blow him to get out of the ticket. Jeesh!

OP, you broke the law. YDI.

You have to be a cop to get away with breaking the law. Being a relative doesn't count.

why should you be treated any differently from anyone else?

Exactly.. You still broke the law.

What makes you any different from anyone else? You wouldn't have gotten pulled over if you hadn't broken some kind of law.

Hmmm.... Let me think real hard here.... OH YEAH he said they're related.... That's a difference. The cop isn't related to everyone huh?

"Oh, good luck with the new baby girl on the way, George" "Ah, thanks, Tim, it was nice seeing you again. You're still getting the ticket, though." Did you really think that just because he was family, he wouldn't give you a ticket? Someone didn't raise you right.

The problem here, and with other FMLs, is that they're biased towards the poster. I'm going to assume that if you got a ticket from a family member, you must have been doing something pretty reckless.

ydi, if you got pulled over it's painfully obvious you were doing something wrong. moron
