Today, I got a new skin cream for my acne. I tested it on a small patch of skin just to make sure I wasn't allergic. I was, and the reaction didn't stay on that small patch of skin. My left arm is now almost entirely covered in a horrible rash. FML

Today, I went to the store and bought some cream to help with a sunburn I'd gotten a few days ago. What's worse than having red, peeling, and painful skin? An allergic reaction on top of it. FML
Today, I finally got prescribed something for my skin problems. The good news: It works really well. The bad news: When the doctor said one of the potential side effects was a "horrible rash," she really meant it when she said, "horrible." I swear to God, I was about to rip my chest open, due to it itching so hard. FML
Today, I decided to try a new hair removal cream. Turns out, I'm allergic to it. My face now looks like a tomato with eyebrows. FML
Today, I used a new face mask that claimed it would make my skin glow. I must have missed the part about testing for allergies. My “glow” turned into a bright red rash overnight, just in time for a first date. FML
Today, I realized that the tingly feeling on my face when I put a new combination of acne wash, acne medication, and my usual moisturizer on was not, in fact, "it working." It was slowly peeling away the top layer of skin. I look and feel sunburned. I also still have acne and oily skin. FML
Today, I found out that what I thought was "acne" is actually an allergic reaction to a cream I've been using for years. I thought the cream was helping me with the breakouts but my doctor says the real acne probably went away naturally years ago. FML
Today, I discovered the effect the cream has that my mom gave me. It was for my acne and it worked, in a way. Instead of having a lot of little pimples, I now just have a few gigantic ones. FML
Today, I was eating out with my partner, and we decided to use the new lube we bought. Things went great until I later realized I was allergic to it and a large red rash spread all across my mouth and chin. It won't go away. FML
Today, I used a new fragrance-free hypoallergenic laundry detergent for my underwear, as I have sensitive skin. I got a rash. FML
Today, I found out that I am allergic to one of the preservatives that they put in aloe. I found this out after I put some on a severe sunburn I have. Not only am I sunburned, but now I am severely itchy as well. FML

Good call nonetheless, OP. I always just assume I wouldn't be allergic. Anyway, this reminds me. I've read of people learning, after years of religiously treating their acne, that the acne medication and creams were actually the cause of their acne.

If acne removal products actually worked they'd go out of business. Just wash your face with cold clean water each day and you'll be fine.

They don't go out of business BECAUSE they work. It doesn't magically cure it, you have to continuously use it. I've had terrible acne since I was young and unless I do my routine with skin care products, I have acne. The fact my family can tell if I'm using it or not should show it works.

That sucks, OP :/ at least you tested it first and the rash isn't on your face! Throw that shit away and go see a doctor to try to find out what you're allergic to.

If it is an off-the-shelf brand, they won't care about the rash and would refund without seeing it. If it was given by a doctor, the doctor would want to see the rash so they can add the response to the OP's medical file, but you can't get refunds for prescription medications.

Smart move. I'm no doctor, but if putting it on a small patch of skin caused such a bad reaction it seems possible that using a lot more could have induced a much more severe, possibly life-threatening anaphylactic response.

Sorry Op. I hope it didn't lead to any dangerous life threatening problems. What I usually for skin care products now is to read the reviews etc and then read thei gradients: first four. Check if there has been any clinical studies on them. It makes a huge difference in regards to the effectiveness, precautions you need to be aware of etc.

I had that happen once with a different kind of product. Turned out it had been absorbed through my skin and traveled through my blood stream.
