That's actually a really good idea. Even if you take it from the view of someone who thinks all of that is rubbish, if OP believes in ghosts to this degree then they're unlikely to just change their mind and the most logical thing to do is religious blessings, etc. which should act as a placebo effect. If they believe it's helped then it probably will ease their worries.
