Today, a guy came into my gas station, showed me the gun on his hip, and asked me to kindly empty the register. My asshole boss claimed afterwards that because we live in an open carry state, and because the guy didn't point the gun at me, that there was no actual robbery and I just gave him free money. FML

Today, I was robbed while working overnight at the gas station. They demanded I give them all the cash in the register. Seeing they were armed, I was reduced to tears and complied. They mocked me and took a video with their cellphone. When I told my boss, he promptly fired me for not “fighting back.” FML
Today, while working third shift alone at a gas station, I had to deal with a crazy guy tripping balls and asking me if it was okay to bring a gun into the place. I don't get paid nearly enough for this. FML
Today, my boss asked if he could pay me in guns. FML
Today, I stopped by the gun store to pick up a new concealed weapon for protection. As I was leaving the store, a man came up behind me, hit me with a crowbar, and stole my gun. FML
Today, I got robbed at the gas station I work at. After only getting $38 dollars out the register, the guy then stole my purse. It had my rent money in it. FML
Today, my friend was pulled over and told to get out of the car. The officer motioned for me to get out of the car too so I reached behind me to get my shoes. He then pointed his gun at my face and frantically asked my friend if I had a gun. My friend calmly replied, "No, but shoot him anyway." FML
Today, I was late to work and couldn't get my gas tank open. Panicking, I asked the only person around to help me who happened to be a very large man. He was able to open it for me and seemed really nice. That is until he pulled out a knife and robbed me. FML
Today, a man tried to rob the store I work at. Before the guy was taken by the cops, he complained to my manager for "unfriendly behavior". He took it seriously and bitched me out for not providing "quality service" to our customers. FML
Today, a couple came into the gas station where I work to ask for directions. While I was giving the woman directions (and even writing them down to be as helpful as possible), the man stole my wallet out of my purse that was sitting on the other end of the counter behind a display. FML
Today, I was at work when two sheriff's deputies walked in. They asked me my name and when I told them, they asked me to turn around and they cuffed me. They told me I was under arrest for robbery. Turns out I was mistakenly IDed, but now every one at my job thinks I'm an armed robber. FML

Your boss is a ******* idiot. But that guy isn't really *that* dumb. Most gas station stores don't have audio recording on their cameras. Add in the shit quality of the cameras and it would take little effort to make it look like the cashier just handed over the money without any provocation.

Even if there was audio, being polite makes for no way to prove of the man actually having any intent to use the gun.

OP do you think it is worth taking your manager to court for that? If they penalised you for it? I mean they might have a policy document on what to do if robbed, but ultimately this was a traumatic event and your manager acted appallingly.

If you have a visible gun or weapon on you and ask for (steal) money from a store it becomes armed robbery or the equivalent crime based on the state. If you haven't already you need to file a police report and then report your boss to human resources if your company has one.

There have been people who have robbed stores with bananas hidden under their jackets and pointed like a gun. Who cares if e didn't point the gun at you, he showed it to you and asked for the money. That is a threat. Period. You did the right thing OP. Your boss is an idiot!
