Kids these days…
Today, my youngest started playing Fortnite. My oldest has been playing competitively for a couple of years. My youngest is now addicted and needs a new computer to run it at max settings. I hate Fortnite. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I’ve become obsessed with Fortnite, like, all I think about is Fortnite. Since Fortnite came out, I'd always said, “That’s such a bad game, it’s so stupid, I’m never playing that.” Now, it’s June 2025, I only started playing in March of this year, and I’ve even become better than my boyfriend who’s been playing for years. FML
Today, and most nights, my 17 year-old twins scream and shout while playing Fortnite. I asked if they could kindly not tonight, as I was tired and needed sleep. One told me I couldn't tell him to get off, he's allowed to play. I turned the WiFi off, which ended up with the other screaming and swearing how unfair i was. Now I can't sleep. FML
Today, my 12-year-old son played QWOP on my laptop. Half an hour later, he virtually destroyed it in a fit of rage. FML
Today, my son finally got a job for the first time in his life. He only did it so he can upgrade his PC and buy Overwatch. He's 24. FML
Today, in an attempt to get my son to stop playing Call of Duty, I threw his Xbox controller out the window. He was so desperate, he followed it. His bedroom is on the second floor. My son has 3 broken ribs, and no future. FML
Today, I came home to my frantic mom boxing up all the family electronics. She'd heard about the Roblox lawsuit and is now convinced that every inch of the internet is crawling with pedophiles. Now my two little brothers are throwing earsplitting tantrums and I have no way to drown them out. FML
Today, I wanted to spend some time with my daughter, since I work all the time and hardly ever get time off. She wanted to play Minecraft, so played it with her. Have you ever been killed over and over in a video game by an 8 year-old? I have. FML
Today, I discovered that my little brother sold my PS2, 3 and 4 along with all of my games in exchange for credits to use in Fortnite. I've had some of that stuff since before he was born. FML
Today, my dad made me quit my online school classes and go back to public school, because apparently when I'm on the computer, it makes his video games lag. FML
Today, my six year-old son maxed my credit card on Robux. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

So don't give them a computer? We don't always get what we want in life, because that's not how the world works. Best the kids learn that now than later.

If he wants a new computer make him get a job and buy it himself.

I logged in just to comment! I think it's wonderful that your children have interests! I'm sure it can be annoying at times, but parents tend to get upset at their children for being happy about something. Remember, if you get annoyed, that these are tiny humans, and despite their sizes, they are just as significant as adults. You have hobbies and interests too. If you had people, especially significant others, downgrade your experiences to just annoyances, it would probably be upsetting. So remember that when you bring up their game! Comments can hurt. And children can read your attitude, even if you think it isn't obvious. This can lead to being unsure of themselves and lead to further problems in the future when they are making different choices! Having interests in like, the worst game to come out in the last century isn't something to celebrate. I'm celebrating because all of my kids hate fornite and think it's stupid.

You don't need a badass computer for fortnite AT ALL. And your kid doesn't "need" to get everything they want. But you could take this opportunity to write out a "chores for money" list (like a menu) and have him research all the parts he wants (he will definitely learn a thing or two) and make a list on pc builder or whatever and work off the prices for each part as he goes along. You can offer to pay shipping if you want to be involved in paying. This gives him a sense of work ethic, knowledge, responsiblity, achievement, and the toys he wants, all while avoiding raising a spoilt brat. If he throws a fit about this your kids is already a brat and you need to fix that and stop buying them shit until they learn to appreciate it.
