Today, I got my braces checked by another orthodontist since I've had them for years and my teeth never got the way they should be. After 8 years and 27 x-ray exams, my orthodontist didn't do much except loosen the root of the tooth to the point where I can move it. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to see my orthodontist. He informed me that I have an underbite and I will probably need braces again. I just had them taken off last year, after five and a half years of oral hell. FML
Today, I got my braces off. I also got my tongue pierced. Both by my orthodontist. FML
Today, I went to a new dentist because I've been experiencing occasional toothache. Upon seeing my x-rays, he noticed something odd. Apparently, during a root canal a while ago, a piece of an instrument broke off, and has been lodged within ever since. FML
Drilling
Today, I went to my new dentist and before he started looking at my teeth, I told him my previous dentist had never found a single thing wrong with my teeth. After looking around, he chuckled humourlessly and called my last dentist idiotic. I now have a $580 bill and a root canal next week. FML
The more you know
Today, I was able to get dental care for the first time in 4 years. I had been going through all the hygiene motions, but without professional input all that time, no one was there to warn me about the sour candies I had been eating, and how they ruined your teeth anyway. My teeth are well beyond salvageable now. FML
Today, I went to the orthodontist's to get my braces tightened, and I chose baby blue bands. Turns out they make my teeth look extremely yellow. Only a month and a half to go. FML
What's the tooth?
Today, I asked my dentist to have a look at the tiny crack his colleague repaired a few years ago, because it’s giving me trouble again. He looked in my mouth, took an X-ray, and could find neither the crack, nor the corresponding filling. FML
Today, I arrived 10 minutes early to my orthodontist's office to get my braces off. It turns out my appointment was actually one hour earlier, and now the next available appointment is in four weeks. FML
US healthcare is ****** up
Today, I went to the dentist two years after having a front tooth knocked out because I could finally (barely) afford the $4000 bill for an implant. They checked me out and told me that my teeth have shifted to the point that I’ll need braces before receiving an implant, for another $4k bill. I’m sick of looking like a hick. FML
Goddamn it
Today, I went for a checkup after having recently been fitted with dental implants. The oral surgeon I chose was supposedly the best in the area, but it turns out that he inserted the implants at the wrong angle. Now I have to have further surgery to correct it. FML

Well at least you got to the root of the problem and finally got the tooth. Just brace yourself for more work.

This is one of the few times that I think some sort of legal action is needed. Your time and money, and the orthodontist did absolutely nothing? It might be a small-claims court situation, but you deserve some sort of reparations.

Dentists have a really nasty history of continuing to do unnecessary work on people just to collect on insurance money. That’s what happened to me. My previous dentist did three fillings and a root canal on me that my new dentist said I never needed, and it all ended with me losing a tooth that was healthy to begin with. If you can get your new orthodontist to testify in court, you should pursue a malpractice suit on your former orthodontist. The only way to stop corrupt people from practicing is to drag their misdeeds into the light

It took you 8 years of wearing braces before you sought a second opinion???

I had awful teeth (stuck out when my mouth was closed) an overbite and crowding and my braces weren't even on for 8 years. I would sue

It’s common for teeth to be loose when in ortho; especially if the dentist is moving one tooth in particular. The tissue around the loose tooth will eventually settle and stabilize the tooth. But, 8 years in ortho is way too long; no matter how jacked up your teeth were to begin with. You’ve wasted your time and your money.
