Today, I arrived 10 minutes early to my orthodontist's office to get my braces off. It turns out my appointment was actually one hour earlier, and now the next available appointment is in four weeks. FML

Today, I left work early because I had a dentist appointment. I got to the clinic, checked in, and sat down. Ten minutes later, the receptionist asked why I was there. My appointment is next Wednesday. I had taken the afternoon off for nothing. FML
Today, I left work early because I had a doctor's appointment. After sitting in the waiting room for twenty minutes, I realized I was at my old doctor's office. My actual appointment was across town. I was already late. FML
Today, I had an appointment to pull some wisdom teeth. I wrote the wrong time in my calendar. Showed up an hour late and they didn't pull the one tooth that actually hurts. Now I've got the pay for the time I was late, plus wait until November to pull the rest. I waited 5 months for this appointment due to the coronavirus. FML
Today, I had to go to the dentist to get 11 cavities filled. I took a wrong turn and ended up being 10 minutes late. My dentist told I had to reschedule because of his "10 minute policy." I have to wait 14 days now to get my cavities filled. FML
Today, I had a dentist appointment and was running late. I frantically put on my shoes and rushed out of the house. When I arrived at the dentist’s office, they told me I was scheduled for a root canal, not a cleaning. I forgot to confirm the appointment. After I sat down in the chair, I tried to back out, but they were already numbing my gums. FML
Today, I'm looking forward to my orthodontist's appointment more than I'm looking forward to my birthday. FML
Today, I went to the doctor's office for an appointment. After waiting for ages, I asked the receptionist what the delay was. Apparently, I had no standing appointment today. This is coming from the same receptionist who checked me in nearly two hours ago. FML
Today, after spending almost an hour in the dentist's waiting room, watching other people get called in for their appointments, I finally lost my patience and asked the receptionist what was taking so long. I'd forgotten to sign in. FML
Today, I had a doctor's appointment. I arrived early so I could check in with the receptionists about this weird communication mixup that's caused me to miss my last two appointments. Despite what my appointment card said, I arrived to find the office closed. FML
Today, I went to the orthodontist, and found out when I was supposed to get my braces off. His exact words, "You'll get them off around Christmas... but we're not sure what year." FML

Unless you don't wear a retainer for the rest of your life, then they'll go back to normal.

Not necessarily. I know some people who stopped, and their teeth haven't grown back together. I also know some people who wear theirs every couple of days. It just depends on the person!

You have to wear your retainers pretty much 24/7 when you first get your braces taken off, and then after a few months you have to start wearing them only during the night, and then wean it off to 6 nights a week until you get to 1 night a week. After that you can probably go down to once a month, but I've been on one night a week for the last 5 years and I can feel them moving if I leave it too long, that and it gets incredibly painful to put them in. My wisdom teeth are still coming through so I think if I don't wear my retainers, the wisdom teeth will destroy it. One tooth on the bottom already looks like it's being pushed out of place :(

Taking off braces is a glorious thing, I wouldn't miss it for anything. By the way, I'm getting mine off in 4-6 months, I should probably go now.

I'm sorry to hear about that, OP. But don't worry. It will be worth the wait. Until you get them off, remember that there is nothing wrong with have braces. I dont know what you look like, but I'm sure you look just fine. Keep your head up, OP. Time will fly by and your appointment will be here before you know it. (:
