I'm a rebel, mom!

Today, my son is going through a rebellious phase. He's taken to wearing leather and chains, listening to death metal music all day in his room alone, and screaming at me in public places. He was fired from his part-time job for swearing at customers. My son is 29 years old. FML

Virgins.

your son is what we call... Epic fail.

You and your son both need to understand that he is an adult and behave that way. If he feels like an adult, maybe he will behave that way. Mature adults do not scream at each other in public, no matter what their choice of dress or music. He needs to take some responsibility. He needs to get himself a job, and preferably also a girl. It does not look like he will do these things while he's sitting comfortably in his room. You need to treat him like an adult, but perhaps also give him a kick. That means telling him you won't put up with him lounging around your house all day. He needs to go out and put time into finding a job. At home, he needs to do his share of the house-work and you need to be charging him rent. If you don't think you should then put it into an account (but don't tell him) and give it back to him when he matures enough to want his own place. I guess he's an only child - if he's just holding out for a nice fat inheritance, you might want to threaten to withhold that. If Bill Gates can send his kids out to work, so can you!

slap the shit out of him

You have failed as a parent. He has failed as an adult. You need to kick him out.

A troll in the makings... welcome comrad.

beat his ass and kick him out

If his "phase" is rather recent, I would have him evaluated. If these outbursts have been progressing since childhood, it's time for "tough love". Either way, I feel for you, Mom.

get over it
