Go broke, go woke
Today, I went on a date with my new boyfriend. When the check came, he asked, "Do you accept food stamps?" When the waiter said no, he checked in his wallet and said, "Well all I have is five dollars." I ended up picking up the $20 tab. FML

it has nothing to do with who paid for the date; $20 is a pretty insignificant amount to hash out who pays for what. the fact of the matter is that if he's too broke to invite you for dinner, come up with a cheaper date! it's the concept, the op isn't being a bitch or whatever else people have been calling her. if I was in her shoes, I would've been damn embarrassed--of course the restaurant doesn't accept food stamps! if there IS another date, I'd awkwardly talk to him about whether or not they can afford it. For your sake, op, I'd dump him. this just shows such a lack of class!
