Friends like these
Today, I found out that my closest friend of many years had been putting on a charade of being my friend, and has decided that they can't be bothered with the effort of me existing any more. FML

Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, after months of being friendly and flirty with a very close friend, they've started ghosting me and cancelling everything that has been planned. They will only message to moan or ask for help. FML
Today, I found out that the person who I considered my best friend actually hates my guts. FML
Today, I broke ties with a friend of mine. She said I was her only friend and asked me not to interact with others normally. I'd had enough, and asked her not to bother me again. Then I found out that everyone liked her better and left me alone for lunch, even though she's a gaslighter. FML
Today, I pranked my friend and started a fake fight. However, she opened up and admitted to doing a bunch of stuff. We've now stopped being friends. FML
Today, my best friend, who I speak to pretty much all day, every single day, started dating someone and blocked and ghosted me. I guess my only close friend wasn't such a good friend after all. FML
Today, a friend told me he no longer wishes to be my friend, not because I did something, just because he no longer looks forward to seeing me, counts down every minute until a socially acceptable time to leave, and is always thinking up excuses to either be late or not come at all. Wow, just wow. FML
Today, and recently, many of my friends have been acting strangely. My birthday is coming up soon, so I thought maybe they were planning a surprise party. Nope. Turns out they've just been secretly hanging out without me. FML
Today, I realized one of my best friends was only friends with me because I would take her shopping, spoil her regularly, and help her out financially. She moved to another province and only contacted me whenever she wanted money. After I refused a couple of times, she deleted me on Facebook. FML
Today, I found out that my best friend of 10 years has been sabotaging every relationship or situationship that I’ve had for these past 10 years. No wonder I’ve been single for the majority of that time. FML
Today, I got dumped by a friend because she said I was "too much." She's treated me like shit and basically ignored me at times since the beginning of the school year, in favor of hanging out with another friend. I guess years of friendship really can disappear overnight. FML

Not all friendships were fake just because they came to an end. If she was your friend for many years I doubt it was a "charade". What would be the point of that? What does she gain from that investment of her time and effort? Have you ever sat back and looked at how you treat her or generally behave around her? Maybe she's just had enough of your shit/negativity. Or not. You don't really give any details on why your friendship ended so I'm honestly just making the assumption that it falls on you with how you're claiming the "whole friendship was a charade" and that she's ignoring you. Sounds like a butthurt statement to me and it also sounds like you pissed them off and are refusing to take accountability. Maybe ask her what was actually bothering her and offer to work on it instead of accusing her of only pretending to be your friend - because that's pretty immature.

People change - Maybe you, maybe them. Rarely do we actually remain friends for life because of that. It does not mean that you or your former friend were false friends before, it just means that the friendship is no longer working. It’s human to mourn the loss of a relationship - friend or whatever. Allow yourself some time to mourn the loss and then go on. It’s not helpful to accuse a former friend of “never having been a real friend” just because the friendship is now over or at a different level. Maybe it was you, maybe it was them that led to the breakdown - Think about what more recently led to this. Was the friendship equal or were you the needy one? If that’s the case, you have some growing up to do. Friendship only works when things are equal - Not one side always giving and the other always taking. Or maybe it was just that you no longer had much in common. Either way, move on but learn from this.

And no one can be bothered to make the effort to comment on this story. What are you bringing to the friendship that would keep your friend interested?
