Brush twice a day but no more then 3, floss at least once a day preferably before bed more it you get food stuck in-between them, and use mouth wash after brushing. when you floss make to get under the gums it will hurt the first few times but won't hurt once you get in the habit of doing it. Go to your dentist and get the fillings right away.

My moms body didn't absorb calcium when she was prego with my brother so most of his teeth were rotten before he was 30.. Even with hygiene and dental visits.. Some people just have crappy teeth.. FYL

Get a second opinion. It's unlikely, but possible that the dentist is lying to you.

I didn't go to the dentist in two years and needed two fillings. If he doesn't brush every day, floss, lacked needed nutrients, ate lots of sugary candy, and hasn't went in a few years it wouldn't surprise me that it would be that bad or even worse.

It drives me nuts when people complain about going to the dentist when they don't take care of their teeth. I brush 3x a day and floss before bed every night and still have cavities. It's miserable because I can't get insurance or afford to go to the dentist. Take care of your teeth, people! They're all you get!
