Today, I ran into my aunt I hadn’t seen since I was a child. My mom told me she took off and stopped speaking to everyone. After lunch, I asked her why she left. She said our whole family ostracized her for aborting her abusive husband’s baby and divorcing him instead of "making it work." FML

If that's true (and chances are it is, since it'd be a strange story to make up), you may want to distance yourself from your family, as they're quite clearly enabling abusive behavior, and maybe even abusive themselves.

I believe her point is that the family are toxic and liars, which makes a perfect FML.

sure her boyfriend was abusive, but it's not the kid's fault for it.
