Empathic siblings

Today, our son finally received his autism diagnosis. We sat our daughters down to explain and they both started celebrating, because they thought he was going to a facility and never come back. When I told them he was staying with us, our youngest actually started crying. FML

Your daughter's reactions says volumes and your son's behavior towards them, your daughter's probably need therapy and possibly separation from their brother.

They probably thought they were going to get their fair share of attention finally.

Therapy sounds like a good idea, both seperately for your daughters and maybe as a family? If they were happy about the thought of him leaving it may be that they have suffered somehow by his presence. They are also kids and I hope you don't punish them for their reaction, but let them have their time to come to terms with their brothers diagnose. Best of luck to you and your family🙂
