Today, at the reading of my mother's last will and testament, I found out that despite having cared for her for the final years of her life, she denied me an inheritance. She basically said I'm an embarrassment, because when she wrote it, I was 31 years-old, with no wife or children. FML

Today, my mom's will was read to the rest of the family. I helped my mom write it a couple years ago, and I was to get funds to pay off school loans. She revised it and put in a note saying I was to get nothing because I was "lazy." The executor read it out loud. FML
Today, I discovered that my deceased mother, God rot her festering soul, wrote me and only me out of her will. All my other siblings are wealthy; I’m the only one in financial trouble after my divorce. And why did mom hate me so much? Because I’m divorced and God says divorce is bad. FML
Today, I was at the reading of my grandma's will. Apparently I was removed from it some time ago, and the £2,500 I would have gotten went to my cheating bitch of an ex-fiancée. It seems my grandma adored her, and never forgave me for "driving her away" from the family. FML
Today, I learned that ever since I got a tattoo, my mother had edited her will, said I was no longer her daughter, and took me out of it. While my sister got a payout, I basically missed out all because of a small tattoo of a flower on my ankle. I’m a single struggling starving mom. She knew this. FML
Today, after my ex had promised his mother he’d give something from her estate to my kids when she died, so she never bothered to change her will to include them, and she died a few weeks ago so I asked him about it because my eldest is going to university soon. He laughed in my face and shut the door. FML
Today, my father told me that it wasn't that I was written out of his will, it's that he never thought to include me in the first place. FML
Today, I attended the reading of my grandfather's last will and testament. My parents, as well as my brothers and sister, all inherited a nice sum of money. I got 69 cents, because, "young Jack always was an immature little shit." FML
Today, after years of telling my sister she's crazy for thinking our parents have been playing favorites all our lives, with me being the favorite, I saw in their will I got the house, both cars, and all their money. Meanwhile, all she got mom's old clothes, "if she can fit in them." FML
Today, my distant relatives found out that I had turned down an inheritance from my long estranged father. I didn't feel it was right so I asked the lawyer to make it a donation to WFP. Relatives I'd never met and some I didn't even know about are now all over my socials about how I "insulted the memory" of their uncle. FML
Today, my mom shoved a document for me to sign. It's pretty much my will, leaving everything to her boyfriend/fiancé's 11 year-old son, who is a bratty hell spawn of Satan. Before I could say anything, she said not to bother leaving anything to my adopted daughter, because she said if I die, she's going with me. FML

I know! I mean I understand where she's coming from a little bit, but 30 is still young and you have plenty of time to find the right person. Besides, your life choices are your own, and you shouldn't be punished for what she disapproves of. It's her job to love you regardless of your decisions, especially when you showed her how much you cared about her health.

You need to challenge that will in probate court. You need to be paid for the care you gave her. She couldn't have expected you to make such a sacrifice out of the goodness of your heart -- you deserve a little something for the effort.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think a legal battle would draw out the issue and further tarnish her memory. If it was me in the situation, I'd feel a little let down but I would still honor her death instead of trying to profit from it. Try and remember the good times you had with her and the things you'll miss, I guess.

Maybe he hasn't met the right person yet... or maybe he doesn't WANT a wife and kids. Not everyone does. My auntie never had children and she's perfectly happy. The nuclear family isn't a natural thing, it's a social construct - why should everyone have to conform to it? OP's mother should have allowed him to make his own choices and respected his right to do so. She sounds very insensitive to me.

It's no longer a necessity to be married with children. Yes, people do it, and it can be a good thing, but it's not something you are compelled to do. It's better to be patient and let life take its course rather than try to force something to happen because of age. It really is 2013, in case people were wondering ... things really have changed.

Generally speaking, parents want the best for their children, but they can commit mishaps along the way. This is an example of one -- it's a selfish act by his mother.
