Devil child

Today, after my 14 year-old son brought home six Fs on his report card, we decided to take away all his video games and sell them. He screamed for hours, then went into the kitchen and started smashing glasses against his head, "until we brought back his games." FML

Halloween

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.

Same thing different taste

Okay, I gotta ask...no emails/calls from the school/teachers about how he was doing? No alerts saying, "Hey, your kid is tanking every class, thought you should know?" I know public school isn't what it used to be, but...

If either of you were involved in your son's life at all, you'd have known he was struggling in school and set limits on video gaming time. You and your partner are responsible for this outcome. Also, selling his video games was incredibly wrong. It's easier to sell instead of restricting access and following through, isn't it?

You’re terrible parents. You should have known. Clearly no balance and you are clueless

Did you let the games console do the babysitting? This is your fault for not being more involved. You could have at least confiscated them, set boundaries and had a clear plan for him to earn them back. But no, you just went for the most drastic option. He has time to get his grades up before the end of school. Why didn't his teachers contact either of you?

That how you help your son get better? By taking his games away? How about figuring out why he has such hard time at school? Don't you think that he already feels like a failure as it is? What horrible parenting skills
