Cough up
Today, I'm 36 years-old, living with my parents, in debt. My mom always wants to solve my problems by giving me money, which she later claims as "borrowed", so now I'm highly in debt with the bank… and her. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I told my mom I wasn't doing very good mentally and I was looking for some support. She decided to remind me of all of the things I still haven't paid her back for. I'm now an unpaid loan, not her daughter. FML
Today, I'm broker than ever. I work a full time job but I STILL can't afford basic adult necessities. My mom keeps asking me to pay a bill that I can't afford (and has nothing to do with her) but she's been opening my mail, and questions my unpaid bills. I'm 36 and I can't afford to move out. FML
Today, I found out that my parents are 28,000 dollars in debt and that my bank account has $27.17 in it. They took my money to help pay their debt. FML
Today, my mom decided to go against every promise she's made to everyone once again and left us in financial ruin. How? She took advantage of my kindness, and didn't pay any of the money she owes me for driving my car, and for so much more. I'm more than $2,000 in debt now. FML
Today, I'm 37 years-old and recently out of a job. As my boyfriend refuses to pay more than half the rent as long as I live here, I have no choice but to move back in with my mom, 8 hours away. My boyfriend is quite happy to pay the entire rent as soon as I'm gone. FML
Today, I'm 37 years-old. I work full time and make 20 dollars an hour. I live with my parents. I still cannot afford to move out and I'm completely broke. I keep overspending because I get anxious because I feel like a failure. I'm addicted to sugar and eat a pint of ice cream a day. FML
Today, my mom yelled at me because I refused to lend her money. The reason I won't lend her money? The last time I did, she and my dad went out and bought a Macbook and a new car instead of paying bills. Apparently, I'm being 'selfish' by keeping my own money and putting it towards university. FML
Today, I lived at home rent free, until now. According to my mother, I receive "too many packages" from online shopping, and now I need to "chip in." FML
Today, my mother woke me up and asked to borrow money. Still groggy, I mumbled where my money stash was. She took all $300 and refuses to pay me back because I'm her son and I "owe" her. FML
Today, after years of loaning my mother countless amounts of cash that never get paid back, borrowing $60 from her, and being just one day late paying it off due to food poisoning, she sends a very large man to my door to collect, like she's Tony Soprano. FML

See if you can get a talk with a financial advisor at the bank. Debtors usually want all of their money back, but sometimes they’ll settle for “most of it” if the alternative is spending way more on collections than it would get them back in return. Unfortunately, I can’t fix your mother though.

There are two sides to personal finance - How much you earn and how much you spend. You have to work on both sides to make progress. You have to have a career or job that pays you fairly and you might ultimately have to find what skills will pay you better that you might could follow. The other side of it is that you have to be responsible for your spending. Little and big expenses can add up to a crushing burden… OP, frankly at your age you should not be still relying on Mom for your financial survival. Either mom has encouraged you to remain dependent or you have failed to figure out how to survive on your own. Either of these is a recipe for disaster.

as I also live in ontario and struggled with money... even now since I live in ontario... look into becoming a "Industrial painter". pay is alright to start and in most cases needs to schooling or experience. good work to give you some breathing room and you can take it anywhere in less than 5 years (like anywhere outside ontario) to help start a much easier life. I feel like there are a few trades like this, this is just the one I know
