Close but no cigar
Today, I learned that in spite of walking during the ceremony, my graduation was denied. That was nearly 4 years ago, and I never knew this was a possibility. I'd been a drop-out all this time. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I was kicked out of college for not attending a class I wasn't ever enrolled in. FML
Today, my university is capable of sending me two diplomas in short succession due to a clerical error, but can't recognize that I've graduated and won't be taking classes with them in the fall. FML
Today, I learned I'm getting kicked out of the house for NOT dropping out of college. FML
Today, I had my college graduation ceremony. As I was walking across the stage, some asshat, in front of over 55,000 students and staff, brazenly ran across the stage, snatched my diploma up out of the president's hand, and ran off. FML
Today, I found out that I was never actually enrolled in the class I've been attending all semester. I guess that explains why I only got $400 dollars in student aid, not the 1,200 they said I'd get. FML
Today, I walked at my graduation ceremony, proudly wearing my valedictorian cords. It turns out that, after some confusion on behalf of the student services office, I was neither valedictorian nor salutatorian (by 0.2 points). I'm dating the actual valedictorian. FML
Today, after wondering why I didn't receive a grade for a summer course I took in 2007, I realized that I gave the professor the wrong student ID number. Someone else received credit. I've been waiting on this grade for 8 months in order to graduate. FML
Today, I was notified that I've been going to the wrong courses for 4 weeks. A friend of mine was the only person to tell me that the administration had taken the privilege to change my courses. I have now failed 5 courses due to absences and have been suspended from college for 6 months. FML
Today, I was walking with a friend to tell him how excited I was for college and even motivating him to apply for the same school, until I found out later that I got rejected. FML
Today, I tripped in front of my graduation class of 225 and all of their relatives while receiving my diploma. FML

I’m baffled at how this is a thing. Isn’t someone supposed to check that the people who walked actually graduated??

The Universities I went to and worked at, all handed you a rolled up piece of paper and mailed the official diploma 2-4 weeks later.

And even if your ceremony was before all your grades were finalized, wouldn’t you notice that you never received your official diploma?

It is not that unusual. Typically, a student may be missing one of the million boxes to check, and they let them walk with their classmates and in front of their families. But they know they are not quite finished.

Why was your graduation denied?

since you clearly didn't apply to college (they would have checked) does it even matter? your life clearly wasn't that affected by high school diploma you never had

This reads like OP just walked and was denied for something they did 4 years ago (obviouslynot the case). Which how do you NOT know when you apply for graduation as you compete your checklist? And, Why do you wait 4 years to post a FML?

Typically they hand you a diploma when you walk. If you got it then you graduated. If you didn't then you should have been asking questions.
