Awww, sweetie
Today, I took my mom out to a fancy restaurant, and spent close to $300 on her Mother's Day present. Later, my little brother drew her a card with crayons on pink construction paper. She cried. He's 20 years-old. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my sisters and I pitched together nearly $500 to send my mom to the spa for Mother's Day. We put the printed sheet with her info into a little box with our card on top. When she opened it, she freaked out and started hugging my dad. Turns out he switched the cards and took all the credit. FML
Today, it's my mother's birthday. She received the ultimate gift from my brother, who told her he had just been accepted into medical school. I bought her scratch-offs. She won a dollar. FML
Today, my mother's blatant favouritism of my little brother hit an all time high when she got him his dream car for his 18th birthday, to the tune of £7000. Do you know what she got me for my 18th last year? £10 in a card and a bottle of cheap wine that she ended up drinking herself. FML
Today, I took my best friend out to dinner for my birthday. She gave me a gift after I paid the tab, saying, "My mom thought you would like this, it was expensive." It was a lovely set of origami paper, which was the exact set I brought her as a souvenir from Japan. She was right, it was expensive. FML
Today, I bought my mom a gift certificate for a spa treatment for two so we could spend some quality time together. She took my sister. FML
Today, for my mom's 50th birthday, all she wanted was a certain gold bracelet. It was too much money for me to buy, so I bought the same one in silver. Right before I gave it to her, my older sister gave her the gold bracelet, which made her cry. When I gave her my present, she just said, "Oh." FML
Today, after spending $120 to have a bouquet of flowers delivered to my mom, she called to complain that I had forgotten about her for Mother's day, but also praise my sister for apparently receiving my flowers I sent at the door and passing them off as hers. FML
Today, after I took my mom her favourite wine, a card, and an expensive orchid for her conservatory, and also spent all Saturday afternoon with her and took her out for lunch, what did she post on Facebook? Her disappointment that I didn’t spend Mother’s Day with her on Sunday because I was working. FML
Today, my mom told me I was a bad daughter because I didn't get anything for my parents' anniversary. I just sent my brother a check for $400 for my share of their gift. FML
Today, I walked into a restaurant with my parents to celebrate my Mom's birthday. They immediately got a kid's menu and crayons out for me. I'm 15. FML

At least your Mom cares for the sentimental things. Mine bitched at me for not getting her anything. I'm 1,000 miles away and unemployeed. Called her several times throughout the day to at least wish her a Happy Mother's Day. She never picked up. She only called back to bitch at me.

I would find that cute..I mean, when was the last time she got something like that? She must miss it. Money isn't everything.

Well now you know what to do for next year's Mother's day :) Aka... don't spend too much money on her since she doesn't care too much about you.

Holy shit, no joke, I think I know this person. All the pieces fit and that's her name. That cheap, retarded asshole little brother of hers is my ex-boyfriend and that is TOTALLY the kind of crap he pulls and his doting, infantilizing mother eats that shit up which is why he's like that in the first place. And he's not even the youngest kid. He does a shitty, last minute half-assed 'card' with his little sister's (who's like 8) crayons for his mom for EVERY holiday, and nothing else, and she acts like he's the Messiah. That's the absolute most he can be prevailed upon to do for the woman who went through hell to raise him. He uses his money (that he has enough of because he lives off his parents and pays no bills) to buy weed, faggy clothes, bad music and stupid shit for his '97 Chrysler Cirrus or whatever the **** it is. **** that. Of course his older sister (who I'm 99.9% sure submitted this) is a total bitch anyway but at least she really gives a damn. He is so ******* selfish. Ugh.

And to the other posters: she didn't say she bought a gift card. She said she spent the money on gifts. Just because you spend money doesn't mean no thought was put into it. If this is who I think it is, she spent a LOT of time perfecting her plans for the day. And the card wasn't some beautifully illustrated poem about a mother's love, I guarantee you it was he and she as stick figures smiling with flowers and rainbows that read "Happy Mother's Day. I love you, Jimmy". He's seriously differently-abled. So glad his ass is gone.

Errr, my friend told me this story yesterday.

It's a proven fact that homemade gifts mean more than store bought gifts. It proves that whoever made the gift put more time and effort into the gift than someone that went out and bought one. I will admit, it takes a while to find a gift (especially for a parent) but I agree with your brothers methods.

Deep down, Mother's Day and Father's Day are really Hallmark holidays so we don't spend much money on them. My wife and I just help the kids make stuff for each other. So we're 33 and we make and give arts-and-crafts gifts. Birthdays and Christmas are a different ballgame altogether, though.

ummm are you sure she wasnt crying because she thinks your worthless brother doesnt care about her. I am sorry but unless his card was a work of art he sounds like he sucks
