Today, a guy at work pulled me aside to tell me that I probably shouldn't be working a job where I have to interact with customers, because of my autism. I don't have autism. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I finally got the results of months of extensive psychological testing to determine why I did so well in my course but performed so terribly on the job. Turns out I'm autistic. FML
Today, my whole office is treating me like a pariah because I rejected the new guy who has autism. I have a history of being domestically abused so why should I date a guy who, by his own admission, loses his temper easily and attacks people? That’s right, I shouldn’t. FML
Today, a girl I'd been crushing on for a little while and I were talking about autism. Some of the last words she said were "I try to not find autistic people so fucking annoying, but I can't help it. But can you blame me?” I'm autistic. FML
Today, as always, I wore a pin at work with the rainbow infinity symbol to indicate that I'm autistic. A creepy male customer came in and, thinking it was a gay pride pin, started hitting on me and making inappropriate comments. He just wouldn't stop, no matter how much I tried to explain. The police were called. FML
Today, I got told I am not a good fit for a company because I'm disabled. But that's OK, I can volunteer for the same role, as I don't really need to work anyway, because I'm disabled apparently. FML
Today, I tried to explain autism to my classmates. One of them, a professional cunt who's always looking for an excuse to lecture people, accused me of being "ableist" because my explanations weren't accurate, and said I shouldn't explain things I don't understand. I'm actually autistic. FML
Today, I had to deal with a lady who claimed her son was autistic to try and skip the queue. Even her son was saying he’s not autistic, and she was screaming in his face that yes he was. I happen to be genuinely autistic. Security threw her out, and I was jealous that I didn’t get to do it. FML
Today, while at my friend's house, I noticed her brother had a bit of an accent. I laughingly said "Is it me or does your little brother have an accent?" She stared and replied with "No, he has autism." FML
Today, I asked if my psychiatrist would test me for autism, as I believe I may have it. His response? "You probably don't. Stay off social media once in a while." Well fuck me for wanting a professional opinion I guess. FML
Today, my therapist mentioned we should look into the possibility of me being autistic. When telling my boyfriend what she'd said, he replied, “I don’t think you’re autistic, just damaged.” FML

People need to think before they speak...

That is NOT something you just assume about people. I'm sorry. :(

As an autism parent, that's so hateful and distasteful. I hope you or your boss tells him how offensive that was...

How do you know you aren't autistic? Have you been tested?

Even if you did have autism, that comment was completely rude. I seriously hate people today.

Do you not talk much or just sit and look at people?

Even if you had autism, that's really really rude. Wow.

Though having autism has nothing to do with your ability to do your work... My curiosity is killing me... Do you act like you have autism.? Is there a reason he thinks you have autism.? Just wondering. Sorry OP about your silly coworkers. Everyone has them.

My Aunt has autism but that doesn't hinder her from performing her best. She received the title of employee of the year last year. She learned to ignore there kind of people who also need to pipe down their "views".Even if you had autism doesn't mean that you don't deserve to work there.

Even if you were autistic, that is still a terrible thing to say to someone. I work with a guy who has a moderate form of autism, and he is one the most awesome people (and best worker) I have ever had the fortune to meet.

That would creepy me out but other people in wheelchairs creepy me out.
