Today, I tried to buy a bottle of wine from the supermarket. The scrawny, acne-ridden kid at the checkout asked to see my ID. I didn't have any on me, since I'm 37 years old and didn't expect to be asked stupid questions. I complained to his manager, only to be asked to leave. FML

I love how not only did you insult the clerk in your description on fml, but you also tried to get him in trouble by getting the manager involved. You're a DICK. (in caps to emphasise the large amount of dickness you are)

Ya, my hubby had a receding hair line at age 14/16 he could get into most bars and drove without a valid license, because he look way older. You should be grateful you appear so young!

Who travels without an id? You know it's illegal to drve without it right? You deserved to be kicked out

Not everyone drives to go grocery shopping... But still, I agree OP should have had his ID.

Don't get mad at him his just doing his job

i think its funny that this person told their story thinking everyone would be on their side and that the supermarket was wrong only to relize how stupid they are for not haveing their id on them fyl idiot you go pimply kid

I work at a gas station and we're suppose to ID anyone that look younger than 30 years old. If not, then we go to jail. So it's really FYL for looking young and driving without a drivers license, a perfect ID form (assuming that the supermarket isn't walking distance for you).

To everyone hating on the OP: he's British. It is not normal here to ID every single customer even if they are obviously an adult.

I hope OP realizes that it's the law to carry around identification if you're 18 and over. Besides, why did you drive to the store without your license?

in what country? Communist Russia? Nazi Germany? We don't have ID cards and we're unlikely to ever let the government pass that particular law. breach of privacy much? In the UK id constitutes drivers licence or passport, only an idiot would have their passport on them 24/7, and for similar lost/cost related reasons 99% of people over 25 wouldn't be carrying their drivers licence around either...

totally took too long to type that and was beaten to the punch with the nazi joke... DAMN!

You can replace Communist Russia with just Russia. Maybe it's different with natives, but I as a foreign student had to carry ID with me at all times. You could probably add to that list Arizona and Alabama.

Are you living in a free country? I'm Canadian, and I most certainly do not need to carry ID on me, and if such a law was passed I'd start a rebellion and make this country free again.
