Today, my parents finally invited my boyfriend over for dinner. Everything was going great until my mother asked him his profession. He stuffed his mouth full of lasagna, snorted, and then responded, "I clean shit for a living." FML

Oh no, he said shit instead of... what? Doo-doo? Feces? They're all gross because they're all shit. You should have told your parents what he did for a living in the first place, because if your parents are that uptight, maybe any fecal talk at the table would be too much for them. And yes, he was probably nervous and said "shit" on accident. Even if not, if your parents are weird about swearing, you should have warned him first. Not everyone has the same home life as you and you can't assume that he knows how to behave in front of your parents. If he loves you, you love him, you treat each other well, and he's responsible, you and your parents both need to get over him being just a little "rough around the edges."
