Today, I shaved my head because I heard that one of my good friends got cancer. I went to visit her in the hospital. She's not bald. FML

YDI for thinking everybody with cancer is bald...although it was sort of a nice gesture.

you can't get cancer from someone else... so why the hell you shaved your head in the first placed!?!?!

are you that dumb? the OP didn't want to let their friend suffer alone and he/she showed respect for their friend. he shaved his/her head to let his/her friend know that tree will always be someone t"here for u and one of those people is me."( thats what the OP would say)

What? When did she say that? She did it to be nice, not to protect herself 0.o

wow your not very bright. she was trying to support her friend.

33- You my friend are very much misinformed or lack understanding. People who have cancer sometimes undergo chemotherapy which may rid of the cells that..... you know what? Look at the other ******* comments above, man!

at 43. OP may have cut his/her hair as a gesture of friendship but seriously, how can someone be that dumb to believe your hair falls out because of cancer? First OP should have found out what type of cancer their friend had and then waited to see if the treatment for said cancer would cause their hair to fall out.

55 - ALMOST every person that never went through a situation in their life when a member of their family had cancer, don't know that its from the treatment. plus even in movies you just see a person with cancer and slowly their hair falls out and that's what the OP thought. people loose hair when they have cancer. ....

plus in other countries we don't get the education about cancer like everybody does in USA. in my country we didn't have medication for cancer. we had to go in other countries to get it. and it was very very expensive. so most people just died of cancer because two didn't have $$

wow. no wonder you're a cheerleader. your dumb.

43 agreed. My sister's friend got cancer and lost her hair in chemo. My sister shaved her head to make her friend feel better. She also got a couple of her other friends to shave their heads, so that her friend with cancer wouldn't feel so weird.

wow, you're stupid. guess it is a blonde thing. (no offence to other blondes, just a joke)

just look at the bright side. no new to take care of hair for a while. even tho when I cut my hair short I was crying for months. I'm sorry OP

My girlfriend always says she'll shave her head if her sister (chain smoker) gets cancer. This is something I could imagine her doing; her sister gives her the call that she has cancer, then she immediately shaves her head. Hope your friend the best of luck. Support her, it helps.

People with cancer don't begin to lose hair until after they begin chemotherapy. It's not like the doctor diagnoses them and them BOOM, all their hair falls out. You did a very selfless thing, so your life is not ******. I once worked with a girl my age who developed cancer in her lymph nodes and it was miserable watching her undergo treatments as she developed more and more bald spots and was losing energy. Be thankful you're bald but healthy. Hair grows back.

she will when she goes throu chemo... this isn't an FML :) you're a great friend for be supportive and by her side :)

just bc someone has cancer, doesn't mean that they absolutely HAVE TO be bald
