54 - "You guys are the kinds of stupid ***** that go "AW LOOK AT THE DOGGY" and end up getting bitten, then the owner of the dog is on the hook for it." If the dog is going to bite everyone that goes and pets it, then why is it out in public in the first place? I'm not the type to ooh and aah over a dog, but seriously, if the dog is going to chew on random people, the owner deserves to be on the hook for it.
Wow, some of you are stupid as hell. I don't give a **** what kind of dog you see or how much you think you know about that breed based on your personal experience, you NEVER approach a strange dog without the owner there to tell you it is ok to approach their dog. I LOVE animals, but I am not going to **** with a strange dog. Animals are unpredictable. I don't care how well they are trained or how nice they appear to be, you just never know...... To the OP, the owner of that dog is a complete ass! I hope he gets bit by his own dog.
As a former vet for animal control, I have to say this: German Shepherds are a HIGHLY dominant breed - they can and will bully and/or bite anyone they do not consider an Alpha personality. They are also high energy and very agressive, in addition to being VERY obedient if properly trained. These are the very traits that make them desirable police dogs. They are also the traits that make them one of the most dangerous dogs out there if they do NOT have a dominant owner who has trained them properly. OP: you did the right thing. And that poor dog's owner is an arse - not just to you or the public, but also to his dog.
Hehe couldve called the cops on him leaving a dog acting like it might bite someone where another person has to go can get the owner in trouble a lot of places. Store manager wouldve worked too.
#80 - Dogs ARE friendly animals. But that doesn't make them SAFE under every circumstance. As for dominance - you are confusing being a pushy bully with disipline. One teaches the dog to act like a twat, the other teaches him to obey, even in your absence. Since the dog was being agressive in NEUTRAL territory, he did NOT have a dominant owner teaching him proper discipline.
79: You're a dumbass. It could very well happen in real life and I'm sure that Reno 911 got it from real life, so STFU. To you idiots who are calling him a pussy: You are all dumbasses. You never know if it was trained to attack people or anything like that. He could have it as a guard dog. Or maybe he just didn't train it. I know I wouldn't like to be bit by one of those dogs. I used to have a blue tick and it ended up killing one of my other dogs. No, they were not in the same cage at the time. One of them stuck their head through to the other's fence and the blue tick bit it in the throat. We got rid of the blue tick and we had to have the other dog put down because it was so badly injured.
OK, let me set the record straight. I am not scared of dogs in the least, and I also own one. But I wouldn't ever try to get my bike back in that situation, if there was a giant GROWLING german shepherd WITHIN RANGE OF BITING ME if i were to get close! Anybody who says otherwise is stupid. #6 you are stupid, being tied up only counts if you are outside of the leash's range. If you are within the leash's range, then he can get you without being restricted... thus you are SOL. The dog was in range, RIGHT NEXT TO THE BIKE, so obviously if he got close enough to grab the bike, the dog would have struck and bitten him. The OP was merely being sensible in not wanting to get his arm bitten off by some oversized mangy mutt. #10 you are also stupid, having a phobia is irrelevant to not wanting to get a chunk of your arm bitten off by a giant snarling menacing dog. For example, I don't have a fear of heights, I love roller coasters and rock climbing. But just because I'm not afraid of heights doesn't mean i would jump off of a 50ft cliff and really hurt/kill myself. The OP could have had a fear of dogs, or he could not have; but regardless of whether he HAD that fear of dogs, it's STILL a very bad idea to get close to a snarling german shepherd! #10, the definition of a phobia is an "IRRATIONAL fear". Fearing every dog that lives and breathes is certainly irrational; but only fearing dogs that have the intent on physically maiming you is not irrational or stupid- it is VITAL to human survival! The OP's fear was rational, as it was limited to this dog. So he did not have a "phobia". This ******* human race as a whole would not survive if we did not have legitimate fears of LEGITIMATE dangers. And since the OP's fear was legitimate and justified, he did not have a "phobia" or a "fear"- he was simply being intelligent, smart, cautious, and wary. Something that is the characteristic of people who DON'T get darwin awards. ================================ This really isn't that big of an FML, but it certainly is bad because everybody laughed at you. But I think you need to grow a pair if you cared enough about it to actually write an FML about it. It's, well... it's just not that important.

German Shepherds are beautiful and sweet if trained correctly. Clearly this one wasn't
You gotta admit that it's funny :P
