Today, I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time. I'm already a clumsy person but became extra clumsy because I was nervous. After knocking over my drink for the fourth time, my boyfriend's mom angrily shouted "Did you actually come drunk for the first time meeting us?" FML

4 times... wow... twice... okay, but 4? Anyway, it sucks that that is the first impression they have of you, but let's hope your boyfriend clears your name, and the next time you meet them concentrate on being extremely careful, as to not further damage your reputation.

how does nervousness translate to drunk? Ive been both plenty of times, and they're very different attitudes. its easy enough just to mention that you're kind of nervous. I would think that any parent who dated or had a social life of their own can understand. either that or they're just asses, in which case you shouldn't worry about impressing them so much anyway.

Hey Kings, thats rough man. You totally don't deserve that. As far as I knew girls always dreamed that their BF would get along with the parents. Seems like shes a little needy wanting you to pay attention to her and only her 24/7

It was probably the throwing up on the house plants outside or the stumbling around that made her think you were drunk. When you spilt the drink for the fourth time she just thought you were being a bitch.

That's pretty bitchy of her. Obviously you're gonna be nervous, and she should understand that and try to reassure you or at least acknowledge it. You're lucky, though, that at least you only knocked over your glass. You could have puked on the table or something, that would have REALLY made them think you were drunk.

awww...i'm sorry... i'm really clumsy too, and when' i'm nervous I stutter... not a good combo

AWW :[ That would be me. Did your boyfriend not stand up for you?

That sucks. Usually you can tell the difference between someone that's drunk and someone with high anxiety. Bad judgment on her part. I've had anxiety to that degree before. No one has ever accused of me being drunk though (unless I was).

that's so rude of her:( i'm sorry she called you out like that.

That sucks, not your fault you were nervous and naturally clumsey, did you explain to her you were naturally that clumsey or does she still assume you were drunk?

Ouch, I'm so sorry. I'm a total klutz too, and I'm meeting my bf's parents in one week... *is nervous*

Aww, I can totally relate. I'm clumsy and become even clumsier when I'm nervous or upset. I hope everything gets cleared up!
