Today, I had to cancel all of the plans to go away on a romantic weekend with my boyfriend. My parents are going out of town for a night and I have to stay home a babysit my little sister. She's 19. FML

If you still live under their roof, then it's your obligation to do what they ask for, regardless of how ridiculous it is that a 19-year-old needs a babysitter.

LoL, not. If she's an adult, her parents should show her enough respect to consult her. If they don't like that she's not acting like their personal doormat, then they can kick her out.

I'm an only child, but it still seems to me that if you had plans, you should just tell your parents that they should find someone else to watch your sister. Even if she is handicapped, like a lot of people seem to be suggesting, I am sure they could still find someone else to watch her (like a professional agency). I'm assuming you had your plans before you knew they were going out of town for a night, so just point that out. If your parents are that unreasonable then FYL.
