Today, I got my wisdom teeth removed. All I can remember is crying to my mom because I thought spoons were taking over the world. FML

I wish there was a video of that! The after wisdom teeth removal video are hilarious! Don't worry op, everyone who's gotten there wisdom teeth removed has a funny story to go with it. I was convinced that they hadn't gotten all four teeth and were going to force me to come back next day. Now you have a funny story to tell people down the road!

I had mine out recently, no funny stories, woke up and asked the nurse if it was finished, that was that. I was looking forward to having a funny story, too

I got mine out and afterward was confused about how I had a jacket on... of all things. And the surgeon told my mom afterward as we were leaving, "She didn't actually have 6 like we thought, she ended up having 7. One more grew in after her last X-rays a year ago." I was shocked and promptly vomited on the sidewalk a few seconds later. It was rough... so much pain! Thankfully I didn't get dry sockets.

Can people in USA choose to get general anaesthesia? Is it common? When they removed my wisdom teeth I really didn't have any say in that. And a shot of local anaesthesia was more than enough. Even though both teeth removed were still hidden quite deep in the bone and under my gums.

When I had mine taken out, I was put under. I think that both choices are available here in the states though.

I'm not sure if there's so much of a choice but it might depend on how many are being removed. I got all 4 done at once so I told them to give me enough so I "see unicorns making waffles". Light pain medication does nothing for some of us, so we go for stronger stuff.

depends on 1) your insurance, 2) if your dentist offers both types, 3) how difficult it will be to remove them. my dentist will give me the gas for fillings =D
