Today, after parking in the handicapped spot of a lot with my placard, an older couple with their 7-year-old grandchild came up and yelled at me for being a lying asshole and taking the parking spot. When I showed them my prosthetic leg, the kid started crying and guess who got yelled at again. FML

Oh my God. I'm so sorry that happened to you. The nerve of some people. At least you know the second time they yelled at you... it's because they knew they looked stupid the first time.

What a good example they are for that child.

My brother lost his leg in Afghanistan and something similar happened to him once. He told the brat he lost his leg as punishment for being an asshole. He went crying to his mom, so she walked over and asked what had happened. He told her and was expecting to get bitched at. Instead, she told her son it's true so he better start being nice if he wants to keep both of his legs and made him apologize to my brother. Unfortunately, it seems no one is teaching this brat anything about manners or respect.

ugh these types of people make me sick. They are clearly bad role models for that child

I kind of had the same thing happen to me. While I was doing extensive chemotherapy, my muscles deteriorated away and I had trouble moving around. My doctor gave me a window tag to park closer to the doors so I could get my medication easier. I always got yelled at for faking because I was to young and had tattoos. Sorry this happened to you.

Handicapped is handicapped, I hate that people play the, "my handicap is worse than yours" game...

I hate judgmental assholes like that, OP. Both my parents have invisible disorders and they have been given dirty looks and have been bitched at for parking in the handicapped spaces. They have a handicapped license plate, but people have screamed that it was fake.

Just say, you have some nerve. Especially after teaching that 7 year old it is okay to yell at people and cuss. What are you teaching them?

I've actually been through situations like this. It's always awkward.
