He was acting in an immature passive aggressive way towards you because he’s already had one foot out the door after meeting the new girl. It didn’t happen because of “forgotten utensils” She was there the entire time. One thing I learned about people in general is that when it comes to ending a relationship 9 times out of 10 they would resort to “quiet dumping” which is what your ex did or lie about why they’re separating (i.e “Its not you, it’s me) People end relationships for two reasons and two reasons alone: either you did something that made them resent you (not forgotten utensils) or there’s someone else, which is your case. Long story short: you dodged a bullet. Find someone worth your time.
