Today, I saw my friends talking about plans for later during lunch. I walked over and asked for the plan. My best friend of 12 years gently took me aside, and said "You know that person in each group of friends that is only around to be made fun of? That's you." I just got dumped by my friends. FML

Today, I got dumped by a friend because she said I was "too much." She's treated me like shit and basically ignored me at times since the beginning of the school year, in favor of hanging out with another friend. I guess years of friendship really can disappear overnight. FML

Today, at work, I was told I was a failure. Feeling like crap, I went to my best friend to see if he could make me laugh. He told me that he felt obligated to hang out with me, so he thought that we shouldn't anymore. FML

Today, after knowing my friendship group for 9 years, who were like my family, I found out that they actually hate me and have been trying to get me to go away for 5 years. When I left, they laughed at me, argued with me and their exact last words were, "K bye" and then kicked me out. FML

Today, I was shopping with my girlfriend, when I saw my best friend. I jokingly did a double-take and said I didn't recognize him with his clothes on. We laughed, talked a bit, then went our separate ways. My girlfriend later dumped me, claiming I'm blatantly gay and cheating on her. FML

Today, my friends and I noticed that people, no matter what stereotype, pretty much all have the same type of friends: the mean one, the funny one, etc., and started naming off the people in our group who fit into those personalities. We got to the token fat one, everyone looked at me and stopped talking. FML

#31 - yeah, I did just tell that person to get a hobby. I was told that before and I fought it and argued just like you just did - then I grew up. Really - OP sounds like he/she was trying to be something they were not, trying to be someone they were not so they would fit in. I've been in your and OP's situation. I'm not unsympathetic at all. I've been there. Some people are not group people. I'm not trying to be mean at all and I truely wish him or her the best.

This OP gives a good opportunity to tell this to strangers: there's a guy in my improv group whom everyone mocks behind his back. I'm more similar to him than to the others. If I ever manned up and told him what was going on, he would leave, and I would be punching bag #2. I therefore either have to live with moral disgust at letting the situation continue without his knowledge, or I have to subject myself to the same kind of "friendship" as he has now. The other problem is that he's a genuinely creepy, abnormal guy, and my difference from him is only a matter of degrees, lending moral weight to telling him about it so that he can change his behavior. OP, I'm sorry your so-called friends treated you like shit behind your back. Just get back up and roll with the punches.
