Rash decision

Today, I had a job interview and things were going really well until I noticed the woman interviewing me staring at the inside of my elbow. I am recovering from a poison sumac rash, and each spot looks like a puncture wound from a syringe. I was dismissed before the interview was over. FML

Yeah, you could've worn longer sleeves, or maybe tried some concealer? I suppose you could've also tried to explain to her about the rash, but she probably wouldn't have believed you anyway...so yeah fyl.

You shouldn't work at a place that would jump to 'rash' decisions like your interviewer did.

That sucks but I think I would have worn long sleeves

So.. I guess it's impossible to tell her what happened? I think if a job's riding on it, you should probably take a little more care into ensuring she doesn't have the wrong impression.

never had poisen sumac rash but i have eczema so i think i know how you feel. it really sucks and you hate saying over and over what it is...I'd try to explain what happened!

I have eczema too, and it really does suck having to explain it to people, but i guess it beats having them think it is something worse. For interviews or other important events, I make sure that as little of it is showing as possible.

I thought you never wore short sleeves to an interview because you usually have a blazer on over your shirt?

YDI. it's like covering up tattoos for a job - wear long sleeves!

or you could have explained and offered to take a drug test.

yeahh, long sleeves, concealer, explanation, offering to take a drug test, there are just so many ways this could have been avoided. good luck with your job hunt though

Explanations and a doctors note go a long way. Or cover that sh*t up. YDI
