#53 i wasn't trying to devalue anything. i was just trying to make the point that he/she shouldn't complain about the price being 3,000 when their are guitars worth so much more. 3,000 dollars may seem like a lot, but when compared to other more expensive guitars, 3,000 dollars is a pretty good deal. and not all the expensive ones are special edition. a regular mint condition Gibson Les Paul from the 60s can easily be priced at 12,000 or more. 3,000 dollars isn't that much.

And ... they weren't breaking their ONLY instruments... just ones specially purchased for the show I dunno about 3K not being a lot. It's high enough that its qualifies as grand larceny (instead of petty) if stolen. but even if it was just a $200 guitar... the brat had no call for breaking it. It wasn't his to break.

It's not really larceny; he didn't take it, he broke it. You should talk to your parents, if you still live with them, and tell them about the blatentness of the destruction. Also, if he's under 18, they are liable for his actions, so technically, they might have to buy you a new guitar. FYL for sure.
