I've done the same thing many times where I work. it's even worse when running a different department.
Occupational hazard!
why FYL?
Yep I do it all the time!
Why is this even on FML? It's not a big deal, most people who have worked a job that includes answering the phone has done this. During high school and college, I can't tell you how many times I would answer my cell or my parents' phone, "Thank you for calling T.J. Maxx (town name.) How may I help you?"
I worked two jobs at one point, and when I was at my second job (an accessory store), I would sometimes slip and greet customers, "Welcome to Walgreens!"
I know how that is. I work at Starbucks and we answer the phone, "thank you for calling Starbucks in [town] this is [name] how can I help you?" And when we go into our back room, it's a curtain so we never know if someone is right there when we go back there so we have to yell "I'm coming through!" So we don't run into anyone
That's ok... Literally an hour or so ago, I did something similar, due to being sleep deprived and basically harassed into extra hours of work. I called for a taxi and a co-worker was talking to me while I was on the phone. normally that wouldn't have been an issue, but this time I asked for a taxi to Burger King and was so exhausted that after saying "Burger King" I automatically said "What can I get for you tonight?" followed by several minutes of laughter when I realized my mistake. My co-worker asked me if I was drunk...

Happens to me all the time. I work in a restaurant and we have to walk around this corner between the front and the kitchen. So we yell "corner" every time we walk through it to avoid bumping into someone. I caught myself saying it out loud in a crowded grocery store.
what's wrong when he thought it hilarious?
