So long, grandpa

Today, I took home my grandpa's ashes. I then went out with my grandma, leaving my 5-year-old at home with my 12-year-old. When I got home, my beaming 5-year-old opened the door, covered in white powder. My grandmother asked where all the powder had come from. She pointed to the empty ashbox. FML

Common sense should have been used here: Keep out of reach of children.

That is so awful. Why the hell did you leave something that important where your five-year-old could get at it?? Why was she not informed that this was an absolutely hands-off item? Why was she beaming? There is so much wrong with this. Your poor, poor grandmother. :(

No....it's powder. They don't hand you bone fragments. It's a mixture of ash and bone fragments, which is then run through a machine to create a powder. Read up, guys!

YOU TOOK IT HOME?!?! THAT'S DISTURBING! YOU KEPT IT IN THE SAME HOUSE WHERE A 12 YEAR OLD AND A 5 YEAR OLD WERE LEFT UN-SUPERVISED? THAT'S EVEN MORE DISTURBING! YOUR AN IDIOT!

Oh my gosh. It's okay because u will remember your grandfather longer than the ashes would have lasted anyway.

Crap parent alert! You deserve it for being irresponsible

When I was twelve, I was babysitting and doing a REALLY good job at it. Not all twelve year olds are irresponsible nitwits.

Poor grandma, hope she wasn't too disturbed...:(

Wait....so you left a 5 year old....with a 12 year old??? You're lucky that's all that happened- and child protective services should have picked em up while your dumbass was gone- YDI

I assume you meant "He's your grandfather". In which case I can't believe you are the first person to say this. That was my very first thought.

OMG, i didnt even have an account I made one, just so i could tell you that you're a bad parent! Who leaves a 5 year old! in the house with a 12 year old? the 12 year old isn't even old enough to be home alone. idiot. FYL indeed

You wasted your time making an account, because you're a complete tool, and you're 100% wrong. Not everyone has overflowing bank accounts to shell out money for a babysitter or daycare. My sister baby-sat my 10-year old brother, me (age 8 @the time) and my newborn sister when she was twelve and she did just fine. When my borther turned 12, he was old enough to be left alone with me and my 2 year old sister and he did just fine, and I was able to babysit my 4 year old sister when I was 12, and I did just fine. Many 12 year olds are mature and reponsible enough to watch a kid for a couple hours. Anyone who knows ANYTHING about kids know that could have happened even if the parents were home. Just because your crappy parents didn't raise you well enough to take care of yourself alone for 2 hours doesn't mean someone who DID raise their kids well enough to is a bad parent. In fact, the OPPOSITE is true.

Fag my mom works on the weekends ALL DAY and has been since i was 9 and i have been left home alone. And since that age i could cook and look after my self. At age 12 i was babysitting like 3 kids at a time all under 4. Same with bunch of people i know. Just couse you got raised horribly!

where was the 12 year old when this happened? he/she should know better...after all you trusted him/her to babysit...?!

He's a young grandfather eh? That must really suck for your grandmother.

That's so horrible, I'm sorry. But you should have told them what it was. They'd find out eventually.
