Bad omen

Today, my girlfriend and I went down to the pier. I brought an empty bottle and some paper, and we both constructed a massive letter expressing our passionate love for each other. We stuck it in the bottle, and threw it out to sea, only to see it explode in slow motion on a protruding rock. FML

Ahahahahaha!!! Fail on how yur love will explode into disaster.

...I'm sorry, but that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

oh nooooooo! the letters went to the sea instead of going to the sea in a bottle! HOW WILL YOU GO ON?!

I hate the idea of throwing a letter in a bottle out to sea because it's just corny, but I hate even more the fucktards who are giving everyone the "littering is bad" lecture.

That has got to be the lamest idea I've ever heard. who the **** does that? and who says that girls find it romantic? I'm a girl and find it incredibly LAME. I'd rather write a love letter and actually give it to him because i know he'll give a shit. unlike the person who finds the bottle on the other side of the globe who probably cant understand a word of English.

Oh my god littering! By throwing a bottle made of compressed sand and wood pulp that is less than 4/10,000,000,000,000,000,000 (2/5 quintillionths) the volume of the ocean is going to do such irreparable damage to the oceans of the world (its roughly one grain of sand in 1 million Olympic sized swimming pools). What sucks far more for you is that the actual studies done on this show that bottles thrown out to sea generally return to the shore thrown from only a few miles down in less than two weeks. They used GPS tracking on a number of bottles released all over Hawaii to find this out. Mostly to try and crush romantic feelings from people, apparently.

A few thoughts: 1) #3 said it right, there's nothing romantic about littering. 2) Even if there was and this was a brilliant plan, if the rock was protruding, it was obviously visible. I wonder why, of all the space you had to choose from, you threw your bottle right at the rock. 3) I also have issues with your symbolism. How is it romantically symbolic and meaningful and blah blah blah to seal your love in a bottle and then cast it away from yourselves, never to be seen again? Are you trying to preserve it? Don't preserve relationships, live them. You can't save anything exactly the way it once was; you can only evolve and grow with it. Were you trying to let it inspire someone else in some other far away place where people understand English? Were you trying to soften the hard hearts of pirates with your deep & moving love? I don't get it.

lol at #3. But really, i think that's such an incredibly sweet gesture that it really doesn't matter. You can try again anyway.

By looking at your story and name, I now have "Message in a Bottle" stuck in my head.

Not really an FML. But, that was a cute idea?
