Man or woman?

Today, I went to a social event with a very attractive male co-worker. Things were going awesome, we were flirting and really hitting it off. Then his 'wife' called. FML

I agree, your life sucks (15024) - you totally deserved it (4067)

Not an FML. GTFO

#8 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:13pm by alex_vik

#9 fail.

I don't believe going to a social event with a coworker counts as a date. Just me, though?

#14 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:37pm by drkwlf

No you fail, if she wasn't thinking of it as a date then this wouldn't have been posted as an FML. Still not an FML though

#20 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:57pm by youreanidiot

I AGREE!

#26 - On 10/30/2009 at 6:43pm by Polionixon

yup, totally her fault the guy cheats on his wife. oh, men and their never ending douchebaggery.

#29 - On 10/30/2009 at 6:57pm by gothic_cat_lady

First off, the dude wasn't cheating on his wife. I mean, I personally don't constitute talking to another person as "cheating". And anyway, I think this person took his talk the wrong way. This could have been simple small talk for the guy, but because the OP found the man to be attractive, of course she would interpret it as flirting. It's all objective, and the OP probably made it sound biased.

#34 - On 10/30/2009 at 7:12pm by giganticbrain

Oh, pimpin88 and his prepubescent nonsensical rambles. I can always count on you when I forget about the amount of idiocy and ignorance in the world. I hope that you never grow up and pull your head of your ass, and can maintain your innocent stupidity forever. Just never vote, mind you.

#38 - On 10/30/2009 at 8:02pm by lmmmr

lmmmr, you took the words right out of my mouth. Or, off my keyboard.

#55 - On 10/31/2009 at 11:20am by Witchcraft

Yeah #29, what a douche. Such a back-stabbing, cheating liar for going to an event for work with a co-worker.

Gothic-Cat-lady?

No wonder you hate men so much, Just because no guys look at you, doesn't mean they're douchebags. Go get some sun

#59 - On 10/31/2009 at 2:26pm by StealthStorm67

i count it as a date, but the first thing i say to a guy is not- are you married? and if she didn't think it was a date, why was she so mad? btw, why is wife in quotation marks? is it suggesting she didn't believe him or something?

#67 - On 11/01/2009 at 8:11am by danceoo

Would you have preferred he got the call mid-blowjob?

#10 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:19pm by perdix

that may have worked out better... I bet cell reception in the janitors closet at your work social event is not existent... she might not have found out until post blow-job which actually would work out better for him I would imagine.

#18 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:52pm by lets_be_ian

any man who would accept a phone call from their wife is obviously not trying to hide anything- therefore, probably always wears his ring- therefore, YDI for not doing a ring check

#11 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:28pm by OhHerrrooo

Not every married guy does. My father would take a phone call with my mother and vice versa (They are married). Neither of them wear their wedding rings, nor would they deny that they are married in any way.

#25 - On 10/30/2009 at 6:39pm by brfan1337

Shouldnt you have known he was married since you work together; hell what about a ring? I'm calling BS on this one.

#12 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:29pm by Bloodknight

I hope you gave him a quick blow

#13 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:30pm by stain33319

You suck, pun not totally intended. /yeah, my sarcasm radar took its day off today.

#19 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:54pm by voveraite

such a boring fml, the fmls are getting worse everytime. Not laughable worse- just not funny worse.

#15 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:47pm by CherryKatie

Wow calm down. For the record, a "social event" is clearly not a date. Ive gone to many social events with coworkers of the opposite sex, hanging out with someone of the opposite sex does not constitute a date. Also, just because the OP thinks they were flirting doesnt mean they were. It sounds like her coworker is pretty upfront about his marriage, he was probably being friendly and she was just hoping for something more.

#22 - On 10/30/2009 at 6:03pm by SOMAgirl

Just because they were flirting and hitting it off at a social event does not mean that it was a date. Sure, maybe she thought it was one, but you always assume way too much with these things.

Oh, how I love/hate Pimpin88's thought-barfing.

#56 - On 10/31/2009 at 11:25am by Witchcraft

Did you check his hand for a ring?

#21 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:58pm by InfectedWithDrew

YDI for not putting out before his wife called.

#24 - On 10/30/2009 at 6:24pm by protwtf

These FML's that get approved lately really are making me think this is why there should be a "so what" button. This FML is more like, "Today I found out that my attractive coworker is not single after flirting with him." Flirting and going to a social event with another woman may not be considered cheating for his wife. So you can't have a guy you thought was attractive. Get off the internet, and try again with a single guy. Not an FML, it probably happens all the time.

#27 - On 10/30/2009 at 6:46pm by brfan1337

Since he doesn't bring the wife to social events and he was flirting with you, go for it!

#28 - On 10/30/2009 at 6:53pm by ragsy

wow.. what an asshole!

#30 - On 10/30/2009 at 7:03pm by apple500

@#23-You my friend are an idiot. "If he gets to finish like me...." LOL, and your most impressive masterpiece "Ok just ok wheres my i feel ya bro button"
You sound like such a moron, I can't determine if you're just a little kid, or simply to dumb to realize how utterly stupid you sound.

#31 - On 10/30/2009 at 7:07pm by protwtf

Meh. I think that often one person considers it "flirting" while the other person is just trying to be sociable. It could be only the OP thought they were "really hitting it off" while the dude just thought he was being friendly.

#32 - On 10/30/2009 at 7:07pm by Sygonus

If you "went with him" was it a date? If so, FYL. Otherwise, like everyone else said, YDI for not looking to see if he had a ring.

#33 - On 10/30/2009 at 7:11pm by cheetahboo2010

I think this was a date and he was cheating. Therefore, fyl and I hope you'll find a nice singel guy :)

#35 - On 10/30/2009 at 7:38pm by Julianneisasmurf

If he really was cheating, why would he take a call from his wife halfway through the so-called "date"? If he were *trying* to cheat, wouldn't he take the call and then tell OP it was just some friend of his?

How the hell is this an FML? Going to a social event with someone does not constitute a date! I doubt OP even thought it was a date, as they would probably have mentioned it in the FML (i.e. "Today, I went on a date with a coworker"; or, "Today, I went on what I thought was a date"). It seems to me like OP thinks their life is fucked just because a guy she flirted with has a wife.

#40 - On 10/30/2009 at 8:23pm by skybeau

Awesome is an adjective, not an adverb. Just for using truly horrible language you really deserve this and far worse.

#36 - On 10/30/2009 at 7:41pm by Randomxnp

wtf? She didn't use it as an adverb.. Go kill yourself dude.

#44 - On 10/30/2009 at 10:47pm by StealthStorm67

It's true that she didn't use an adverb, and that's precisely the problem. She tried to use a predicate adjective when she'd already used a participle. The two are incompatible. The phrase would've worked had she said, "things were going [awesomely]," or, "things were awesome." Note that the word "awesomely" is entirely optional in the first example - you either go with it or go without it; the word "awesome" doesn't work in that case.

Unfortunately, the sentence is a run-on since she apparently doesn't know the differences between a comma and a semicolon. I find this latter issue to be more annoying than the previous problem.

#49 - On 10/31/2009 at 12:20am by blastvortex

Not all men wear their wedding rings, my father doesn't because he doesn't like jewelery, at all. XD I do think it was a date type situation because she said she went "with" him to a social event, like a party I assume. FYL OP.

#37 - On 10/30/2009 at 7:45pm by _neutrality

haha lol lmao

bummer.

#46 - On 10/30/2009 at 11:06pm by yummy_gummybear9

So did he nail you after he hung up with her?

I hate these FMLs where the real story is what happens NEXT and they don't tell it.

#47 - On 10/30/2009 at 11:50pm by FerrariCake

That doesn't mean that you can't still be his mistress. :3

#48 - On 10/31/2009 at 12:02am by blastvortex

Agree! Threesome FTW! :3

#50 - On 10/31/2009 at 1:08am by toink

Pretty much goes with the territory of getting attached to really attractive people. There's a lot more competition for them, and a lot more vomiting at the restaurant.

#51 - On 10/31/2009 at 1:53am by I_am_stupid_also

ohh well, NEXT!!! :D

#52 - On 10/31/2009 at 4:08am by omghehehe

Why did you write wife in quotation marks? Is he not actually married? (Perhaps that's the FML? I don't know; I'm confused.)

#53 - On 10/31/2009 at 4:41am by claritin

Yes! I don't usually post grammar corrections, but in this case it really makes a difference.

"Wife" in quotation marks = he doesn't really have a wife, he just faked a call or something as an excuse.
Wife with no quotation marks = he has an actual wife.

I'm sure it's the second... but stupid unnecessary quotes.

#57 - On 10/31/2009 at 11:59am by nonynony

I'm also very confused at the use of quotation points?!

But anyway, the OP doesn't imply that it was a date, just that she liked him and she thought something was going to happen between them but then she found out she was married.

Hardly an FML, i feel more sorry for his 'wife'

#58 - On 10/31/2009 at 1:07pm by lmaoatyourlife

Sorry, but your life isn't fucked just because your attractive coworker is married. Stop whining.

#54 - On 10/31/2009 at 9:06am by PhillyFox

Is the FML that the OP's co-worker pretended the phone call was from his wife when it was really someone else, as a ruse in order to blow her off? Or is the FML that the OP doesn't know how to use quotation marks correctly? :)

#60 - On 10/31/2009 at 4:06pm by scdog

RETARD. she said she WENT WITH HER VERY ATTRACTIVE CO-WORKER.learn how to read.
the guy's probably a pig.

#62 - On 10/31/2009 at 10:11pm by mommmma

I think Pimpin is a fucking retard, but you thinking the guy is a pig just for attending a social event is just as niave. Don't be such a feminazi

#63 - On 10/31/2009 at 10:35pm by StealthStorm67

I highly doubt the guy is a pig, I am almost completely certain that he is a human. Dumb bitch.

#66 - On 11/01/2009 at 2:40am by fudrick

Pimpin88, kindly grow up, please. Your immature ramblings are giving me headaches.

#68 - On 11/01/2009 at 10:18am by Witchcraft

GTFO! Why didn't you ask to begin with. Who goes out on a date, and doesn't ask that? Who goes out without thinking about it, or checking? Wtf. YDI YDI YDI!

#64 - On 11/01/2009 at 12:24am by Alittlenegetive

How dumb are u people it says a SOCIAL-EVENT NOT A DATE!!!!! and anyways the OP has no one 2 be mad at but herself she probably assumed they were flirting besides that she should have checked the ring finger duhh commn sense

#65 - On 11/01/2009 at 1:02am by Lightz_Camera_Me

How would you know what's a date and what's not? You type like an eleven-year-old.

#69 - On 11/01/2009 at 10:20am by gummibehrs

cry us a river, it happens to everyone and we all get on with life, your going to live, its ok

#70 - On 11/01/2009 at 12:34pm by Boy_Flow

I think we're all missing something here. The word wife is in quotes. This may mean that he was faking a call from a spouse to get away from the OP!

However, the more likely scenario is that people need to learn how to use quotation marks.
