I applaud your snappy comeback! I bet I'd have said the same thing, I mean, what right does a homeless man have to complain about people having no money to give him?
Assuming you're not rich, you're awesome for saying that. I feel really bad when homeless people ask me for money and I can't afford to give them any... but they really don't have a "right" to my money. Sorry guys, my rent comes before giveaways!
I definitely had money to spare, but it was all trapped in my debit card. I never carry cash anymore, so I didn't have any to give. :/

He is Asian homeless guy? why did he not just go farm and sell WoW gold? Being Asian means hes instantly good at it1!
Excellent comeback. Judging by his rudeness, that homeless man felt he was entitled to your hard-earned. Fuck him.

YDI, but it was worth it i bet.
He shouldn't have been rude to you when you were polite. FYL indeed.
hilarious. YDI, but hilarious. seriously though, i use my debit card for EVERYTHING, so i never have cash on me. lately i've experienced homeless people coming into places where i'm buying food (little caesars and a chinese take-out) and asking for money there (assuming, i suppose, that if i'm buying food i MUST have change left over that they're entitled to). besides that, I live on student loans, which is almost worse than being homeless because i OWE hundreds of thousands of dollars. maybe i should ask THEM for some money.

I remember that a homeless guy asked me for money and I didn't have any, I just had a debit card so I couldn't give him any. The guy then told me that there was a ATM close by....
That's when you say ATMs don't take cereal box credit cards.
You WERE asking for it, but I'ma go ahead and say FYL instead because of the awesome comeback.
I agree with #1. HDI for being awesome.
FYL, but props on the comeback.
And what? Rich people should be treated any differently?
I'll buy homeless people food / drinks, but no cash. Loved the comeback.
HAHAAHHAHAAH awesome comeback!! XDDD
I agree also. HAHA. Excellent comeback, he totally deserved it.
YDI you NEVER piss of a hobo
I used to live in the streets myself so i understand how frustrating it is to be in the situation where you have to ask for change from people to eat...... and to have someone be belligerent to you is very frustrating....... His comment was uncalled for but then again so was yours.....you should have just ignored what he had said as the majority of the time when someone is rude like that , it is out of frustration of being in the situation to begin with, you did not have to give him any money as that is well within your right.... but by responding to his rudeness in kind.... i feel that you deserved getting screamed at.....
hahaha, brilliant on your part!!!
most homeless people have a hell of a lot more money than i do! (at least where i live!)
#2 - On 07/25/2009 at 4:34pm by Lissa
I heard that homeless people in prime locations can make up to $50,000 a year.
wow!
i heard on conan last night about seth rogen talking about how he saw this homeless man, and felt bad so he gave the homeless guy all his money , and then heard his phone ring. funny thing, it wasnt his phone... it was the homeless guys.
true i was watching a special on T.V. about this guy that would park his BENTLEY around the corner and sit on the side of the road and ask for money. how lazy and pathetic is that?! :/
A reporter once followed a few beggers then trapping down people who gave them money to see how much they're earning. Apparently, around $20 an hour at good locations. A begger in San Francisco earn around $3k month. (If you can call that "earning" instead of leeching.)
I don't give any beggers money for any reason, especially after my friends pulled a "study" in the local mall. We went around asking people for 36 cents to call home. After about three days, we got approximately $300. We donated the money, but it shows you the power of begging.
You, sir or madam, are amazing. You were just being honest.
#4 - On 07/25/2009 at 4:36pm by coopcas
Agreed, I don't have anything against homeless people, but the one you ran into was a complete asshole. Guy deserved to be homeless.
Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.
Lies. There are no homeless asian people.
their is, although were I live their are a lot of homeless foreigners :(
are you JOKING? Not only are there homeless people, there are homeless people with severe injuries and deformities like you never see in the US.
This was in Seoul, and it was a fellow American. Not sure how he ended up homeless and in Korea, but either way, it was pretty random.
#5, you're being ignorant.
#75 - On 07/25/2009 at 6:24pm by _Mish
you obviously have not seen the world yet.
He might throw acid at your face like that lady from Maury lol
After I watched that, I was scared to refuse to homeless people.
hahaha that's a great comeback.
#7 - On 07/25/2009 at 4:37pm by kvgf1484
LOVED your reply.
#8 - On 07/25/2009 at 4:37pm by fegd
Haha you genius you. It sucks that he thought you actually owed him something though...
I know right! He threw his entitlement at you, and you threw it back in his face. Nice comeback on your part. You're my new hero.
#32 - On 07/25/2009 at 4:57pm by curryndricegirll
Who said anyone was eating dogs? And even if he OP does... big deal. Different culture, different rules. I mean, people in India probably think people in the US are barbarians for eating cow.
#16, you rock too :) I'm veggy, so I wouldn't eat either of them, but that was a nice, logical argument. You don't see very many of those online anymore....
FYI- not all South Koreans eat dogs. I'm South Korean, and nobody in my family eats dogs.
I'd say #10 is the one more likely eating dogs, being a troll and all...
Ahaha. I would say something like that but I don't want to try San Fran hobos
#11 - On 07/25/2009 at 4:38pm by kamichama
Lmao, I can picture that!
I made an account just to comment on this FML.
FAVED!
That was hilarious, I'm gonna have to use that line when the chance arises.
You deserve an award for talking shit back. I d the same thing to homeless people arpund where I live when they only comeout on club nights.
YDI for not having money and politely apologizing.
well...he did, but the hobo didn't believe him, felt entitled to someone else's money, and tried to insult him. all he did was throw the slap back in his face.
#36 - On 07/25/2009 at 4:59pm by curryndricegirll
Haha that come back was EPIC! I love you seriously XD
LMFAO! That's fantastic! Best. Comback. EVER!
Haha OP wins this round! Nice come back man :D
#21 - On 07/25/2009 at 4:47pm by Person_Man
OMG THAT IS FRICKEN AWSOME HAHA
that was epic! except for him chasing you, lol!!
hahaha yeah... one homeless man asked me for coke and i told him i didn´t have any, that i could give him water and tuna... he started arguing and making me feel guilty and blah blah...
How do you say "who comes to this city without money?" and "apparently, you do." in Korean?
#27 - if you have issues with a crazy korean just yell out MITCHINAM
OP - you rock!
You could say something like :"Noo Goo dohn ohp shi yeo gee aeh wah?" for "who comes here without money?" and "neo ha nun geos eo ro bo yeo jee" for "apparently you do". Please forgive the terrible transliteration, and also for Koreans out there, I'm sure there are better ways to say both. However, being a military Korean linguist, I'm not too good with informal speech. :/
Ha, you're right! it's also apparently really bad to say "byeong shin" or "ba bo ka tun nom". Even if a Korean local were to make me angry through, I wouldn't blatantly insult them- makes the other military personnel look bad.
YDI... but that doesn't mean it wasn't funny. Don't feel bad for it, that's pretty awesome.
I hope you learned your lesson, OP. Never help anyone.
to be honest YDI for using your brilliant wit on a possibly crazy hobo, but i clicked FYL cause it made me laugh. i applaud you.
Fuck hobos.
Well done. I applaud you.
I'm not sure why but I'm imagining him chasing you like a Mario Brother.
Funny story. XD
Thanks a lot, #34, for sticking that bizarre image in my head forever. Next time I see a homeless guy asking for money I'm going to be sorely tempted to offer him a 1-up mushroom.
OP, I'm truly sorry that you had to be chased around by a psychotic homeless plumber with a red hat and a large mustache.
to be honest YDI for using your brilliant wit on a possibly crazy hobo, but i clicked FYL cause it made me laugh. i applaud you.
I'm actually a military member stationed here in Korea... never had dog myself. Good to know that I don't have your approval if I ever do, though. :)
HAHA shouldn't have said that
but its still funny XD
I don't see how anyone could think he seriously deserved that. Excellent choice of response.
Props to you OP. I cannot STAND some homeless people..they annoy the hell out of me..and most of them are fakes anyways. Even if they're not, they got themselves there initially.
I wouldn't vote FYL *or* YDI on this one..because really, it's neither. But again, props to the great response.
why would you antagonize the homeless man?
HAHAHA nice response!! it seems worth it.
lmao, epic response. You sir win at life.
If that was me I would have been laughing my ass off the whole time that loser was chasing me.
Epic wins
everybody gets at least one
Honestly I've just seen/talked to too many homeless people who just...I don't know how to describe them.
Maybe it's just the hobos in Los Angeles, but there was a man who had a sign saying he was hungry, so I bought him a cheeseburger (he was outside of a McDonalds) and when I gave it to him, he said "oh...is this...for me?" with a look of disgust that just said "I wanted money not food you idiot". Plenty of my friends have similar stories.
I know it's sad that they can't get over their drug addictions, but I'm certainly not going to help fund their drug runs, and I don't blame people who steer clear of homeless people or "antagonize" them.
Oh good! I'm not the only one who's had that happen!!
Just a few years ago, there was a homeless man who liked to sit just outside of a large shopping district with a lot of fast food places around the place. I went out of my way with my own money to buy him a HUGE meal from Arby's cause he looked like he hadn't eaten in a week. A nice $10 to ensure he'd be well fed. When I offered it to him, he bitched me out for spending the money rather than giving it to him and threw the foot into the street.
I don't hold any place in my heart for these people any longer. I hate it when my kindness is taken advantage of.
This isn't an FML, this is a LML'cause-I'm-hilarious.
Epic answer!
Dunno why he chased you, it's not like he exactly gets automatic entitlement to people's cash because he's homeless :-/
I clicked YDI, but that was totally awesome :P
GREAT REPLY!!!! so how was it being followed and yelled at by a homeless dude through the streets of a busy city in South Korea? back in china, homeless children are all over the place, begging for money with a cup
Ha, it wasn't TOO bad... there were plenty of people around (as you can imagine), so I wasn't worried about him trying to assault me. I figured if he had a weapon of any kind, he would have been mugging people for money, not asking for it. :)
This is on a very fine line between FML and YDI! Lovely comeback!
Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.
You should have killed him.
Hobos don't deserve to live.
^^ you two appear to be soulmates.
LMAO! That was funny :D totally made my day. That is something I would say. Not really FML more like FHL for being homeless and wanting booze and pot
You heartless fuck. Haven't you heard? The hobo community is Jesus and we are all supposed to treat them like real people. Next time, save your flip remark, hand him some money, give him a hug, and let him touch you inappropriately!
You can't automatically assume everyone believes in Jesus. Especially in other parts of the world where it's most likely their beliefs are entirely different from your own.
And OP has already come back to comment that they don't carry cash anymore.
The person you replied to was making a reference to another hobo FML from today.
I bet he though of you as a tourist (since you said you were american).
FYL because you didn't want him to make you feel bad, and you replied to him like a human being.
But then we don't know his situation so maybe he did come with money and got fired or something.
The homeless is a big problem (not the dudes, but the fact) in our society. Here in France you have real hobos really sleeping in the streets (or a porch..) but then you have the young guys and gals, punky and trashy dressed, with 4 or 5 dogs and dreadlocks, asking for money to make the spiral of coins (or any other bullshit), so they can go into the stores and buy alcohol.
I do not say these dudes have a home, but they have squats (they broke in some appartments, sometimes abandonned, but the batiment industry has also a problem because they do not offer all the homes they have, to maintain high prices).
Because i have no money (i'm not homeless, but i'm living on my savings, and it's kind of melting) i do not ever give away money, i'm eating twice a day and looking desesperatly for a job (talking three languages fluently is worth nothing). But if i give something away to someone, even if i want them to spend it wisely, it's now theirs and if they want to buy alcohol (which keeps warm and helps you with the hunger) with it, that's ok. I do not approve but now that the money is theirs.. That's why i'd rather give them food, real food (because a cheeseburger ! i'd make them a sandwich myself), and a bottle of water or something.
#71 - On 07/25/2009 at 6:21pm by 4ube
Haha totally epic answer, man! Homeless people do not have the right to our money, they simply have the advantage! Sometimes...
So screw him.
#72 - On 07/25/2009 at 6:22pm by NSZ
You're an ass, jesus wasn't homeless (he certainly was a well educated jew, knowing torah things and stuff, he then opposed, the rest is pure fairytale)
#74 - On 07/25/2009 at 6:23pm by 4ube
you've never heard that jesus is disguised as homeless on the streets in an attempt to test your worthiness of heaven?
@ # 136 Are we really going to go there? Why don't we just give every hobo who doesn't contribute anything to society money, thereby justifying that behavior, because we're afraid they're all Jesus.
haha a little harsh but epic win comeback!
Wow, great comeback! ROFL
@4ube:And you're an idiot - others got it (see above)
You're awesome for saying that.
Besides, the average panhandler makes up to $500 a day. (I can't remember source or location)
Ahahaha! You are awesome.
Score
Other Person: 1 Homeless person: 0
High five for that retort, buddy.
Lmao, that is epic..amazing comeback
YDI. It was a clever comeback, which I applaud, but it was really harsh. Maybe he was a victim of circumstance; it's not always the homeless person's fault that he is homeless. He shouldn't expect anything from you, but... YDI.
Which is precisely why I was polite to him at first. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and responded in a kind, sympathetic manner. When he snapped back at me with anger and absolutely no gratitude, I realized that my initial willingness to help wasn't at all warranted. I understand that there is no way to know who is or isn't a victim of circumstance, but if that circumstance has you begging for money on the streets, you have no place to be rude to those who were willing to help if able.
Props to you, great comeback.
best homeless man fml ever!!
Hahaha that's a great story!
I wish they had a Top FTW FML, cuz this would totally be #1!!
that happened to me in korea, i was walking down the street and had no money for a homeless man, he started throwing rocks at me.
awesome come back.
and the hobo expected you to give him money for throwing rocks at you?
I would say that too.
He fucking deserved it.
This ain't no FML; this is win, provided you didn't run like a pussy.
if that happened to me i would let him follow me go to the nearest strore or gas station and buy some food or something and eat it in front of him tehe
That's great! I never give money to homeless people because they always buy shit they don't need. Also some of these "homeless" people aren't really homeless they just pretend to be so they can get money. I knew a lady who had all kinds of money but chose to be homless and live off the streets. I don't understand why you would choose that when you have more than enough money to atleast get an apartment.
Haha. more like fuck his life for being homeless.
never argue with a homeless person. a lit of them are insane literally
that's one hell of a smart ass remark but not one you tell to a homeless guy
You shouldn't give money to the homeless anyway, they most likely blow it all on alcohol or drugs. A homeless man wanted my McDonalds when I was waiting at a bus stop, until my dad interveined. e.o
What an ass. He shouldn't be allowed to harass people like that. FYL.
I want to hug you. Not just for this wintastic FML, but for all your intelligent posts. We need moar OPs like you. :)
Thank you, I appreciate that! Hope you have a great weekend! :)
I just love when people begging you for money are assholes about it. As if you want to give assholes money.
There was this one man in Chicago who literally hid on the side of the sidewalk right by an alley, and he just sang his soul out. He didn't ask for shit. But it was a REALLY smart move- where he was sitting on the sidewalk made his voice project across the street, it sounded like he was throwing his voice everywhere. I didn't have money, but damn, I wanted to give it to him, I have to respect musicians and intelligence like that. He's no stranger to music or projection.
I would have loved to see that! the only "street performance" I've seen here was a group of break dancers, both Korean and American. It was really cool! People were even offering them money, but they gave it back. They said they just wanted to practice performing for an audience. So cool!
Call 911 and have him arrested for vagrancy?
Your statement was correct,
But arguing with a homeless person is never a smart idea.
Whoever says YDI is FRIGGAN STUPID because the homeless people are not entitled to the money that people have worked to earn. They aren't entitled to a single red cent you have. If he wants money, he can get a job.. get a paper route or something, you don't need to have an address for that. =D
Haha, this is great. First one I've modded that I've seen show up.
I love you....will you marry me? :P
haha nooooo, I want him :D
Grrr...someone who is actually starving would be greatful to be given food.
If they give you a death stare you know they're fakes or just out for booze or drugs.
If you really want to help the needy, always give food, not cash.
All these responses and not a single person addressed that this man might have some sort of mental problems that lead to unsociable behavior? Or that perhaps you, too, would be slightly rude and snappy if your life had come to the point where you were begging on the streets for money?
Instead, it's all the same line of how the homeless must all be drug addicts or faking. I'm sorry to disappoint, but I have volunteered at a rehabilitation center for the less fortunate. Yes, we had drug addicts. Also, people that had mental/behavioral problems and had simply been abandoned by their families, people that had grown up on the street and didn't have access to other options, and more than a handful of runaway teenagers escaping from poor situations to find themselves in worse (and, in the very, very bad cases - better) places. Most of the drug addicts I know have the means to afford health care to help subsidize those pills they pop. Of course, I now work in an upper class area and I suppose the fact that at twenty five their parents still give them an allowance of $250 a week PLUS they had the advantage of an amazing school system PLUS the social network and support to get a job, find a place to live, and generally just succeed in life despite doing very little makes them better than those mistreated and forgotten by society. Of course, I see it so clearly now.
I'm not saying that you have to give money to every individual you come across that asks. I don't always, especially being a young female - I'm smart enough not to take out and flash around money when I'm alone or at night. I know that people on the street do lie and use money for things we might deem as "unnecessary". I also know that I am fortunate enough to be in a position where I can afford a certain level of humanity, even when I can't (or simply won't) financially give anything. I'm saying that, seeing as you had the advantage in the situation, would it have been so terrible to have been polite even in the face of rudeness?
(Actually, while what you did made me cringe, you could have been having a bad day, a bad moment, any number of things. No one is always polite and sympathetic, we're simply human. It's more the level of disdain and ignorance in the comments that upsets me.)

I see and can appreciate all of your points. However, I feel justified in my response. It definitely wasn't an "oh, SNAP!" moment in which I reveled in a victory of having put the homeless community in their place. I was polite, he was rude, and in return, I simply pointed out the fact that he was guilty of the very act he was questioning. Had I two dollars at the time, they both would have been surrendered to him. Never once have I refused to part ways with money because I questioned the intent of the eventual purchase for which it would be used. I don't spit on homeless people, I don't ignore them, and I certainly don't think that they're all drug addicts, but I also don't stop at every one of them that I see to enroll them in school or take them to social services to get help in finding a job. A large part of my success is the initiative that I've taken to change my life, and I don't apologize for holding others to the same standard.
Since you say you had drug addicts... why didn't you just encourage them over the edge?
We don't need homeless addicts wandering the streets. Cleaning up the streets of the world sounds like a good thing to me (and by that I mean encouraging them to commit suicide, letting them die as opposed to helping them, or "accidentally" slipping them too much morphine) .
What I meant to say in my little note at the end, actually, was that I didn't blame you. Like I said, everyone gets snappy and has off moments. It's the replies to the topic that I found disturbing.
stab him. it's not like anyone will miss his worthless ass.
YDI for talking to a homeless person. You should've just walked away.
bums don't grasp the concept of credit cards...
Awesome comback!! I'll use that next time on a hobo =)
Amazing comeback. I would normally say ydi but bow I say fyl
OH GOD I LIKE THIS SO HARD
WHAT
WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE
GO HOME
My compliments to you, OP.
You truly deserve to wear the golden medal. Not only for your hilarious answer to this rude homeless guy, but also for your respectfull responses to the comments here.
Thank you, that's very sweet of you! I like talking with people online, but I hate nonsense, immature arguing, so I try to keep it clean.
dude! EXCELLENT comeback!
Like a lot of people have said, awesome comeback.
Well done!
He (the homeless guy) sort of walked into that one. Nice comeback.
You should have got on a bus and he wouldn't be able to follow you.
Hehehe. Way to win! I love it!
I love it! Dirty rotten smelly filthy psycho bum!
Beggars who have the guts to also be rude really shouldn't have a place in this world, wasting our oxygen. AWESOME comeback, FYL for getting screamed at.
Also, I don't understand how 9000 can say YDI when only 15000 have said FYL. WTF is wrong with this world? :/
Next time, be ready for hobos by carrying a knife.
Hobo: "Got any change?"
You: "Yep!" *stab them in the chest* "Changing the streets for the better!"
You can stab half the homeless and hire the other half as clean up crews. Problem solved!
I sorta can't wait to use this one!
Now the next batch of waywards are gonna get denied JUST so I can do this...
#163 - On 07/26/2009 at 1:56pm by jasonstepp42
That was really funny!! YDI though.
You didn't deserve that at all. I can't tell you how many times I have given a homeless person money and then they complain that it's not enough, or I tell them I don't have any money and they get pissed off. The situation they're in sucks, but that gives them no right to harass people, plus, if you're a nice hobo, you'll get more money. It's simple. Go you for standing up for yourself. That guy was an ass hole.
ahaahahahaa! That is so funny! I Love that response, quick wit! kudos to you ;)
This is what happens when you try being polite to a homeless person. Next time tell him to fuck off. YDI.
EPIC WIN for a quick comeback.
Well played, sir! Epic comeback. Also, props for actually replying to comments.
OMFG best comeback ever. FYL
this has got to be the millionth "I said something mean to a hobo and then he
followed me" fml. sheesh
Dude. OP. You, sir, are awesome. Well played!
lol. tell him to get a job
Ahahahahahhahahaha!!!!! LMAO! Hilarious!
haha, pwn faced! Youre my hero!
i was laughing my ass off at this one, awesome!
#183 - On 07/27/2009 at 7:26am by isnt_it_ironic
dude you are awesome. i hate when homeless people get the idea its everyone elses responsibility to supply them with money and food.
#185 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:32pm by gerblerr
Niiiice hahaha xD You shouldn't think of this as an FML, you made a funny. He can't take a joke too bad for him.
Hahaha I laughed so had when I read this. Major props to you and that snappy comeback
=^)
I applaud you , that is the best comeback I think I have ever heard, or ever will. HDI for being too stupid and ignorant to realize he was setting himself up for that. Congratz .
Loved your comeback! So hilarious!
Now that was fkin hilarious.
hahahaha You 1, homeless guy 0
Judging his response, I'd guess he was a professional panhandler. No real homeless man makes a smartass comment on how you refuse to give them money, they usually just accept what people give them.
That guy was a douche. In fact, all homeless guys are douches. It's there fault they are on the street, they should just grow up and get a job. All they buy with the money given to them is buy more beer. Don't fuck with the homeless.
YDI, for being mean to a homeless guy...but good comeback.
Holy shit, I laughed so hard from that story. Probably the best comeback to a homeless person I ever heard! But seriously, I bust my ass for a paycheck, nothing pisses me off more than some drunky guy whining about me not giving handouts.
it's called a credit card ya stupid hobo
screw that hobo that comeback was awesome
