Today, while walking down the street, a homeless man walked up to me. He opened his mouth to say something and I immediately said that I didn't have any spare change because I was late for work. He then said "I was gonna ask you for the time, dickwad". Apparently he wasn't homeless. FML

It's a risk you had to take. When I worked downtown I developed an uncanny ability to put on my ipod and zone out anybody and everybody who tried to talk to me.

Hahahaha happened to me. I actually GAVE money to someone who wasn't homeless. Just a normal guy. But he probably deserved it for looking like one. He smiled at me and gave me the money back.

My Uncle is a bushworker... he has long unkept hair and his clothes are always a bit dirty from his high paying job. One day a lady came up to him on the street and gave him $5 because he looked like a bum. He just shrugged and said thanks.

Why does it matter if he was homeless or not? Don't you have 60 seconds for the common courtesy to find out what he wanted? If he wanted money, you could have offered to buy him some food instead. (Anyone who is REALLY hungry won't turn down that offer.) As it turned out, what he really wanted didn't cost you anything. Except a minute of your time - which you are obviously too important and busy to give.

Wow, the logic that some people have, or do not have. That was a rude thing to say without him even saying anything. What if he was going to say good afternoon or something of the like. Or what if you had dropped food on your shirt and he wanted to tell you in case you wanted to make a good impression on people. Lately I've been getting a lot of people asking me for money when I'm walking down the street. And they aren't homeless, just dumb people with nothing else better to do then bug other people. Get a fucking job. So I would have probably assumed some random person coming up to me would ask for money. Pretty annoying.

This is why, before even being asked anything, he took the precautionary step of saying that he didn't have any spare change when a stranger walked up to him. When I went to NYC, the ONLY people that walked up to me were either asking for money, or asking if I could take their picture (I had about three different people ask me to take their picture). Since the guy walked up to the OP and the OP was late, he beat the guy to the punch and told him he didn't have any money.
That's not an FML it's more like a fuck his life.. YDI for judging a person so quickly from how they looked/smelt (:
