I've known lots of people who got kicked out of their parents' house, and they all had one thing in common.
Every last one of them was a total life loser.
YDI. I mean, shit, you couldn't even legally park your truck.

that sounds like fun

Assuming you're an adult, you can't expect your parents to take care of you forever... time to grow up
that sounds like fun man.
Maybe the parents called a tow truck?
Doesn't necessarily mean he was illegally parked.
don't worry i'm sure you're the family favorite !

#6, what makes you assume he was doing drugs?
that would be funny in a movie comedy.... actually now that i think about, a lot of these FMLs would be....
Life lesson: when sleeping in your truck, do not park in a tow-away zone.
#4 you know what assuming does....
aww that sucks man! what's with everyone hating on you anyway? Nice assumptions people have going on.
#12-- it makes an ASS out of U and ME !!!!!!!
lol

It's unfortunate that you got kicked out. Parents do usually have a reason though. I don't think previous commentors are so much "assuming" as they are "inferring.". That is, of course, barring the possibility that your parents are unstable, which is entirely possible as well. However, I think it's FYL for not having any friends with couches you could crash on for a few days while you either work things out with your family or find a place of your own :(
This raises like 15 different question. Can't decide between FYL or YDI. ... Meh, pick yourself up and dust yourself off, this wasn't too bad.
I agree with #1... anybody that I've known that's been kicked out of the house has been a failure at life because of horrible choices and they KNEW the right thing to do. Also, if you've been kicked out, how are you using a computer?
Maybe the parents are doing the drugs. Don't assume one way or the other. Get all the facts before you make such acenine judgements.
did you know it was coming.....because that could be the difference between a FYL and a YDI
#10, a purely FML movie would be awesome.
hahahaha wow what happened?
stop doing drugs

I know people that have been kicked out of their parents house the day they graduated high school - people with nowhere to go, and no money because their parents REFUSED to let them get a job in high school. If not for strangers help, that person would have just been another homeless person for the rest of their instead of a college graduate with two degrees - a person who worked full time while going to school full time during both degrees just to earn them, and is now pursuing a phD. That person wasn't lazy. His parents just didn't want to see him have a chance in life that they didn't have and so they did everything they could to keep him from getting one - they were jealous of their own kids success and so tried to sabotage his adult life when sabotaging his childhood didn't work out for them
*Seriously the number of people who have never heard of university libraries (ie how are you using a computer if you are kicked out) never ceases to amaze me. its like every poster here is 12 years old and sheltered from the world
aha, u can expect that from one of those american parents...
17 - many people who are kicked out have it happen because the parents are fucked up people, even if the kid did absolutely nothing wrong. I'd say getting kicked out is the cause of having a fucked up life, not the result of. Even if the kid was a fuckup, you're more likely to turn your life around if you're living in a sheltered house than out on the streets.
And s/he could easily be using a library computer. Those do exist, you know. 24 is right.
To the OP, sorry, man :(
My mom was disowned by her mom when she was thirteen, and since she wasnt eighteen she had to go into foster homes. Their was nothing wrong with my mom. It was her mom that was fucked up. So #1 and 17, it's not always the kids fault that they get thrown out.

I know a friend whose parents say as soon as she graduates college they're kicking her out....so basically...she has a huge ass debt on her hands, she may not be guranteed a job because of this economy, she will all of a sudden have to pay rent, health insurance, buy a car/car loan...etc ect etc....
People can say "Oh well people have to grow up"
Well in my opinion its horrible for parents to just kick kids out especially when they have no money, are in debt and their bills are worth more than their lives because of this lovely US system here....
My friend is never gonna make it on her own..and she's terrified
I am soooooooo grateful my parents told me I can stay with them as long as I want just so I can get on my feet and build a life for myself
You know, a person of average intelligence might reason they need to change something about their life and their thought patterns.
At this point, the decisions you make determine if you are going to have a "FML", or a "CGRML" (come gang rape me life).
Anyway, you seem to still have computer and Internet access.
Haha, this one made me laugh, mainly because it sounds like something out of a movie.
Anyways, how old are you that you were staying at your parents' and didn't have a home to go back to?
Also, what did you do that made you kick you out?
Anddd, were you parked illegally to boot?
Sucks for you, but it's kind of YDI, for getting kicked out and parking your truck in a towing zone.
Yeah I'm with 31, what did you do to get kicked out? And were you just so high or drunk off your ass that you didn't know you were parked illegally?
If you've graduated loans they give you 6 months to find a job to pay it back...and I would think most people work during school...if they bothered to get a job.
But i think parents who kick their kids out right after graduation (be it high school or college) who do nothing to encourage them to be independent while they still live with them are doing their kids a vast disservice...thus you end up with people who are totally clueless and have no idea how to survive on their own. It's partly their fault for not taking initiative to learn, and partly the parents' fault for coddling.
Back to this FML...totally FYL, but pick up the pieces--no one is going to do it for you, unfortunately. I won't make any assumptions about what happened, I have some friends with really fucked up parents, so I'm willing to believe it wasn't your fault.
whered u get the internet and laptop to post this :O?
lol to 35, I was just thinking this, I normally wouldn't post this late at night, but yeah, if you're sleeping in a truck bed being towed, i think you have other priorities at hand.
oh wow :|
nice parents you go there.
you sound like a major asshole. you totally deserve it.
if getting kicked out, and parking illegally were your fault then YDI definitely
but if not, and your parents really do suck, then FYL
i hope its the 2nd one for your sake
because then youre not a failure at life
I feel like if you get kicked out, the last thing you should be doing is updating on FML. Clearly, you're an idiot or a liar. >.>
my mom kicked me out for being gay, not for doing drugs, all you haters. FYL man. and even if you do have some substance problem, making you feel like shit about it doesn't solve anything.
well u kinda deserve that still livin with ur parents

hey #17--- its called an iPhone--FML mobile

I wonder where you parked... couldn't have found a legal place? And how old are you, that you were still living with your parents? And what were their reasons for kicking you out? Knowing those things would definitely help determine whether this is an FML or YDI. Regardless of whether you deserved getting kicked out and whether there was a legal parking place available, it's still stupid that they towed your truck while you were in it. One would think they'd wake you up and tell you to move, or at least to get out of the truck so they could tow it without, oh you know, risking injury to you... fuckers.

YDI for sleeping in your car! like at least go to a motel?!
you got kicked out of your house, you're sleeping in your car, yet you are posting it on FML via a phone/laptop/computer...sounds like you're in a diar situation. Go back to mommy and daddy, tell them to pay your phone bill and get a job. YDI
So the first thing you do is post it on fmylife.com?
xD
Um, the towtruck driver would have seen you in the box unless you have a topper on it.
#41 If he was kicked out for being gay he wouldn't have a truck. He's have something... more gayish.
Why did u sleep in the truck bed, and not IN the truck?
tell me more about your life.
there's more FMLs in there somewhere i'm sure!
That does sound bad, but you've just got to realize that sometimes not even your parents are going to help you through the toughest times, so you've gotta work extra hard and do it yourself.
