A simple mistake. Well, a pretty big one, but not everyone cares enough to remember your problems.
You'd think her own dad would care enough to remember her allergy to nuts. =_=
nut allergies are quite serious
Well...considering it was her FATHER who should've been living in the same house with her for the last 17 YEARS...yeah, what kind of an idiot forgets something like that. It's like forgetting you have skin cancer.

Ew. That sucks. You think your dad would remember something as simple as you're allergic to nuts.
obviously, your dad hates you. Happy Birthday!

how nice of him. sucks for u, you were basically choking over nuts xD
Thats a great money saving program. He figures that next year you are 18 which usually means some big sort of birthday gift. He thought if he could top you off on your 17th birthday then that would save him the money from any subsequent birthdays.. or at least make you so wary of anything that he gives you in future that if he gave you something like a car that you would not want it fearing he had cut the brakes or something. ;)
well maybe he didnt see the nuts
would you go looking for something youre allergic to in your cake?
He made it. If he didn't see the nuts, there's a big problem there. :P
Sounds like something my dad would do... dads are even worse than boyfriends about remembering that stuff. Trouble is you can't dump your dad.
Haha this comment is awesome. I would totally dump my dad. lmao.
Aw man, good thing you're ok now. Did he actually not remember the allergy or was he just trying really hard to make a nice cake for you and didn't realize that the walnuts might harm you? I can totally see my dad trying to exactly follow the recipe and just forgetting about the allergy. FYL :(
I don't see how OP's dad could forget that. She's 17! (I'm assuming OP is a she, I'm on the FML app on my iPhone, you can't see any of that info.) A nut allergy is too serious for even a male to forget /: But if he did just forget,
man, how does someone really think that someone would deserve this?
You said it yourself; it was delicious. Let him slide this time around or have him make one without them afterward. I'm not saying it wasn't a serious mistake, but its not something to have a grudge against your dad for too long.
I think I like your comment the best :) . Yeah, of course I forgive him. Although with the EpiPen and the trip to the ER, it probably would have been cheaper to just buy the damn cake.

lmao maybe he wants to get rid of you!
thats why he's being cheap
If I were you OP i would make sure daddy didn't take out any new life insurance policies on you recently. O.o
Considering he made the cake for you, he probably feels more bad about this than you do...
After 17 long years of resentment, Dad finally saw his chance.
I'm thinking that after 17 years of investing in the project, Dad finally decided that you were never going to pay off for him and just wanted to cut his losses.
Don't take it personally, it was just a business decision.
Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Maybe you're fat and your dad was sending a message....
bet you wish you took the cake instead
It's muh birthday too! Happy Birthday.
To bad you're allergic to nuts. That must be hard on your boyfriends=(

I don't like nuts and my husband has no problems remembering, so I don't see how it'd be a big deal for boyfriends to remember an actual ALLERGY.
I think that was a testicle joke.
Proof that it's definitely MORE than the thought that counts.
And by the way... technically they still spent money on the cake, they paid for the ingredients and not only that, they also had to make the damn thing as well. Just saying.
Anyway, Happy 17th!
wow... ur dad sounds like an asshole... lol ...:(
Oh my, yesderday was my 17th birthday x]
But that does suck though.
So if you're allergic to nuts, does that make you a lesbian?
LMFAO
this made me laugh out loud,
i love you :)
Nuts on a cake taste bad anyways.
hell no, theyre delicious
i luv chocolate-n-nuts covered cake
emmmmm
Hmmm... I turned 17 today too.
A very similar situation happened on last weeks episode of Accidently on Purpose CBS 830/730c.. pretty hilarious!
obvious promotion is obvious.
A cake is like 30 $? soooooooo.
that would depend where you live and how much your local baker charges.
Plus you can bake your own cake for just a few dollars.
Sounds like someone was trying to "get rid of" a certain someone.
at least he did get you SOMETHING...
I guess that means more cake for your dad. Interesting how these things work out...
That sucks.. you'd think after all these years he'd know.. Happy Birthday !
it was also my 17th!!! unlike you i had a brilliant night though.............
Yeah if I was allergic to something, my father would definitely forget about it, all the time. People tend to remember a lot of things but sometimes they forget some small stuff.
ydi for having terrible parents
oh man. Hope you are ok!!
well i'm glad you're ok. maybe your dad was secretly trying to kill you . . .

He's trying to kill you. run away
Both my parents have done that. My mum brought me a chili twister on my 17th, and im allergic. I had to start cooking dinner when i moved in with my dad after my parents split, because 3 times a week he would make curry or something with chili in it, they have known the last 19 years i have been allergic, my dad still does it whenever i visit.
awwwww u poor thing my sons allergic to nuts too, I'd hopefully never do that to him,
Gotta love family there 4 the god and bad and sometimes they cause both.
