Im sure he will get over it soon OP, don't lose hope. He probably just realized his life will change drastically and he just flipped out for a lil bit. It will be ok!

dump him as soon as possible.

Why dump him??? They're obviously in love, they're been together six years. As previous posters have stated he probably realised the enormity of the situation and got a little scared. Hopefully he'll change his mind back just as quick :)

Would you want to marry someone who proposed and then panicked less than three hours later, then changed his mind and demanded the ring back? The guy got cold feet in record time.

He proposed, then panicked and asked for the ring back? ? He's no man and needs to have more backbone. If he knew he wasn't 100% ready to propose then he shouldn't have done it to begin with.

You waited 6 years and when he finally proposes he takes it back? Obviously he's not someone who likes commitment.

Being together for 6 years and no proposal should have been your first clue

Just because someone has been together for a long time doesn't mean they should just get on with it and get married. They might have got together when they were quite young, and were waiting to finish university or be independent of their parents.

My parents got married when I was 4 years old, and they'd been together nearly 10 years when I was born. 6 years isn't that long, some people just aren't crazy about getting married (clearly OP's boyfriend isn't)

It's easy to regret if afterwards when you make a snap decision like that! FYL.
