Today, the woman I babysat for blamed me for the cut on her son's face, and fired me with no pay for not looking after him properly. He already had the cut when I arrived. FML

Today, when I got home, my child had three bruises. My babysitter's excuse? "She hit me first". FML
Today, I babysat a kid who was such a bratty little prick that I actually considered walking out on the job. After his mom finally got home 4 hours later, he called her a slut. When he got in trouble for it, he claimed that I taught him the word. Needless to say, I didn't get paid. FML
Today, while babysitting my neighbors' kids, their oldest son used a paint pen on the carpet. The boy blamed me and I got fired. He's only 3 and can barely talk. FML
Today, I was babysitting. Being kind, I went to grab their mail, while their 4 year old ate lunch. He locked me out, wrecked the house, and let me in right when he saw their car two hours later. I didn't get paid. I paid them. FML
Today, a woman got out of a car to scream at me as I was walking with the kids I babysit, demanding to know where I was taking her children. Apparently the woman who pays me is also a babysitter, who I have been "covering" for on her party nights. The mother doesn't believe I didn't know this. FML
Today, I was babysitting my neighbor's kid. We were playing in the yard, when he fell and got a small scratch on his leg. I gasp, and he takes a huge breath in and yells, "FUUUCK!!!" as loud as possible. The parents thought it was me, and the mother slapped me in the face. FML
Today, I had to tell a parent about her son kicking a boy in his class. She blamed me for not watching him. I wasn't watching him because I was turned around to care for another boy he had hit right before that. FML
Today, I was knocked unconscious by the 10 year-old I was babysitting because it was his younger sister's bedtime and he didn't want her to go. When I came to, their mother was screaming at me for sleeping on the job. In the middle of the kitchen floor. I lost a job and gained a killer headache. FML
Today, I was fired from the babysitting job I've had for 2 years. I thought maybe the mother had found out that I sometimes let her kids stay up late and have extra sweets. The real reason, as she told me, was that she didn't want her kids loving anyone more than they love her. FML
Today, I was fired because a patron complained that she didn't like the way I kept staring at her kids. I was a lifeguard. FML

No, not an idiot... A genius! She obviously knew her son had that cut on his face and hired a babysitter to watch him... When she came back she didn't want to pay so she blamed it on the sitter. And now we are here. How smart! In all serious though, that was rude of her. You never really know what stories comes from babysitting i guess!

maybe not so much. I read this as the Mother wanting free child care. So she picked something that, even if the OP was very very diligent, could have happened. Children run in to things often. So, I read it as the Mom seeing the mark before and knowing she could blame the babysitter for it later... thereby getting free child care

While the mother has the absolute right to fire the babysitter, she has no right to refuse payment for services rendered. You did the work, she Must pay up. This is a case for small case court. You can even ask for punitive damages. You might even get them.

#21, when you rent a car, you really should walk around it before you take it with the rental agent and point out existing damage, otherwise you'll get blamed for it and have to pay. The OP should have done a walk-around on the kid before the mom left.

#46, no problem. You have to be 25 to rent a car in most places, so younger people can't be expected to know that. Just listen to the wisdom of the friendly, ol' silverbacks and you'll be ready when you achieve that milestone.

you can rent at 18 here in missouri, usa. you just have a higher payment and, I believe mandatory insurance through the rental company
