Today, the government froze my bank account for not paying college debt, and now I can't access my 0.30 cents. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
'Cause I'm a Criminal
Today, I woke up to find both of my bank accounts frozen. My bank informed me that the IRS had ordered a freeze on my assets because of back taxes owed, and would not unfreeze them until the money is paid. The amount? $2.47. FML
Today, I found out that my parents are 28,000 dollars in debt and that my bank account has $27.17 in it. They took my money to help pay their debt. FML
Thieves like us
Today, I found my checking and savings account to both read $0.00. My parents transferred all my money to theirs because "I'm irresponsible, and not fit to handle money." I'm a 3.8 college student and have a full-time job. They are currently unemployed. FML
Today, I have -$700 in my current account, $500 from overdraft fees because I spent money they told me I had. I don't get paid till the 15th and when I cash in my paycheck all of it will go to bringing me even. So the $9 I found in my wallet this morning will have to last me untill the 30th. FML
Today, I found out that I owed my school $0.20. They decided to charge me a late fee of $20 for deferring the intial payment. FML
Bunch of bankers
Today, my bank overdrafted my account to pay a bill that isn't due until next month. When I called them, they said they would fix the mistake, but I have to restore the account to zero before they'll give me my money back. So, I have to pay for my own money with the money they won't give me. FML
Thanks, appreciate it!
Today, I was overdrawn $15 at the bank. I paid in my last $80 in cash, only for them to inform me that I've been slapped with $90 in overdraft fees. FML
Today, I found out my bank charged me $50 for not having any money. Way to go bank, way to go. FML
Today, getting home from a long day at work, I checked the mail and saw three envelopes from the IRS. Apparently I now owe over $4,000. I only have $2 in my bank account. FML
Today, I was so broke that I paid for a $0.28 candy bar with my credit card. FML

.30 = $0.30 or 30 cents.

What this person meant is that they didn't put a dollar sign, and if they had the word "cents" would be unnecessary. As they wrote it, 0.30 is the same as writing ".3" meaning that yes, technically OP wrote that they had .3 cents, which would be less than a cent, which means less than a penny.

.03 would be less than a penny. Sounds like you need some college debt, or at least go back to 5th grade math.

Pretty sure comprehending the fact that 30 cents is thirty pennies is a bit more basic than fifth-grade level. It's more common sense than actual math.

.03 cents is less than a penny. Sounds like you could use some college debt yourself, or at least a 5th grade math education.

At least they only have hold on 30 cents, but make arrangements with the creditor and they should take the garnishment off your accounts.

Sounds like this is a lose lose situation. The government drove your account cause they want to get paid and your broke and can't pay the government.

Government didn't force them to take out s loan. it's a loan. you have to pay it. I have them for my school. it's hard to pay, yes, so you have to ask for a payment plan. you can't just hide then get mad when they force you to pay up. it's a loan not a handout.

If the aid is federal, then yes, indeed they can. In fact, not only can they freeze your assets, they can take most (if not all) of your tax return, and garnish your wages (meaning that if you're employed by any place that reports income to the government, which is practically every job, they'll contact your employer, and the employer will give a certain percent of what you make directly to the government before you receive anything).

I think it's a message. The government wants you to work under the table.
