Today, on the brink of a stiflingly hot summer, I've come to a terrible realisation. It seems the apartment I've just moved into has been specially insulated to trap enough heat inside for the occupants to survive the planet's next Ice Age. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Real estate from hell
Today, I learned why I got such a great deal on my apartment. It's located next to the trash chute. It smells utterly foul three days of the week, and it's the dead of winter now. I dread the summer heat. FML
Alexa, play "Heat Wave" by Martha and the Vandellas
Today, I checked my local weather forecast. The highs are supposed to be 85-94°F (29-35°C) for 9 of the next 10 days. It's been 95-102°F (35-39°C) for the past week. I have no air conditioning. I'm so tired of this heat! Fuck climate change! FML
Today, since moving to a state with relatively milder winters last year, my heating bill has more than doubled. I am now paying more to keep my new apartment at 62 when it is 20 outside, than what I was paying to keep my ancient apartment at 70 when it was minus 14 outside. FML
Today, the lack of heating in my room has gotten to the point where I have to cuddle my clothes for the next day at night so they're not freezing when I wake up. FML
Fall vibes
Today, I slept on the couch last night. Not because of an angry significant other, but because my bedroom was absolutely freezing, thanks to the wind. It was like a giant freezer. Even fully cocooning myself in blankets with a sweater on didn't work. I should get a space heater. FML
Just chilling
Today, my room was so cold that I actually had to wear a coat to enter it without feeling extremely uncomfortable. I have insulated curtains for this exact reason, but it looks like that won't do. FML
Bit nippy out
Today, my mom wants to save money on both heating and electricity. Put into practice, this means that the temperature in my room is about the same as that in our fridge. FML
Working conditions
Today, I'm sitting in a disgustingly hot office with all the windows thrown open. There is no fan, and the owner won't let us use the air conditioner. The smell of mold permeates the room from the ceiling, giving me headaches by the end of the day. The owner refuses to get someone in to clean it. I can't quit. FML
Easily distracted
Today, I unpacked in my new, non-air conditioned apartment wearing nothing but underwear, a tank top and an apron to stay cool. Later, I realized I'd crossed through the complex to my car and the dumpster many times, and arranged my deck overlooking the parking lot, without ever donning shorts. FML
Gloom and doom
Today, there's a huge heat wave, all because corporations were reckless and accelerated climate change. Now, more people are buying more air conditioners, further worsening the climate crisis. FML

Not at all bad it's basically like a 24/7 steam room, well more like steam apartment.

If it was insulated really well wouldn't that also mean that it would trap the A/C inside more when they ran it as well?

Us brits moan when it cold and moan when it's hot. Take no notice, we are all boiling in our homes. But its the best weather we have had for ages! Get outside and enjoy, it will be raining by Tuesday!

1- I'm sure op did check out the apartment before signing his lease. Problem is when viewing it you don't get to sit around inside it all day to find out whether or not if the place is a sauna.

Sorry about that :/ maybe if there's a lot of windows you can open them and it'll help with the airflow?

Or he can save money by not needing to buy a microwave

Good insulation + good AC = cheap, cool air during the summer, am I wrong?

At least OP will be able to survive the next Ice Age.
Goldenchest 14
If it's super hot in the summer it'll probably be like a freezer in the winter.
fascininny23 7
I pressed both buttons. YDI for not looking into it enough before buying it, but, I agree, your life sucks.
R3TROxLOV3 32
Was the OP supposed to know? Maybe he DID check it but it was cool on the day(s) he went so the apartment wasn't hot. That's how it was with my dads last apartment but in reverse. We went multiple times over the summer and it was always a good temperature, but once winter hit it was constantly cold because of crappy insulation.
plaguer 26
This. ^ Believe it or not people, temperatures fluctuate and when OP checked out the place it could have been a lot cooler.
fascininny23 7
I understand that, I was trying to say that if he looked into it when he was buying it, he would have found out that it was "specially insulated to trap enough heat inside for the occupants to survive the planet's next Ice Age."
R3TROxLOV3 32
Who's really going to go to those lengths? The most MOST people would do was check to make sure it's insulated. They wouldn't be like "so uh yea is this apartment insulated in such a way that would make it unbearably hot?"
evilplatypus 39
83 - Did you want him to cut open the wall to see the insulation? Yes, it's easy to see if the windows are well insulated, but the insulation in the walls can make all the difference in the world.
fascininny23 7
How did he find out afterwards then? He must of done some research.

Time to buy a fan.
