Today, on my way to see my therapist, my father told me to lie to her and tell her that I'm happy so he wouldn't have to drive me there anymore. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Unloved
Today, my dad lied and said he was busy working, all because he didn't want to see me. FML
Can't take the L
Today, I lied to my father. I told him I got money yesterday. In fact, I just got fired yesterday. I kept a really happy jolly voice when I spoke to him on the phone. FML
Big Brother is watching you
Today, my boyfriend came to visit from another state. My mom didn't want me to go to his hotel, but I did. When she asked about it, I lied to her and said I didn't go. She the showed me a picture of my car outside his hotel. FML
Trauma dumping
Today, my father forced me to go to therapy, then dumped out everything I made there into our sink. Apparently, I'm "not a batshit crazy psycho who needed to go to therapy." FML
Vengeance is mine
Today, I wouldn’t let my sister borrow my car, so she told our parents that I’m depressed and threatened to kill myself, which is a lie. My mom is on the phone to 999 trying to get me a 72-hour psychiatric hold in hospital, and every time I say it was a lie, my dad says I’m in typical denial. FML
Today, after finally seeing a psychologist about the death of my dad and spending the longest hour of my life confessing every thought I've experienced in the 6 years since his passing, my psychologist asked me if I was walking home or if my dad would be picking me up. FML
Therapy circle
Today, I found out that my dad has a therapist. That's cool. What's cooler is that she's a very nice lady, and even said to ME that I could talk too if I wanted to. Boy, do I want to. But if I did, then she would probably need a therapist herself, and the last thing my dad needs is his therapist needing a therapist. FML
Surprise!
Today, I told my dad I couldn't make the trip to see him this weekend because I had to work. I surprised him by driving ten hours, and while he was out, I let myself in with my key and hid behind the couch for when he came in. He walked in. I jumped out. I then had to call 911. FML
Today, I got fired. By my father. He wants me to drive him to work tomorrow. FML
Today, I went to my dad, hoping to confess something to him. He quickly said that if I'd got my girlfriend pregnant, he'd kill me. That's exactly what happened. I had to make up a lie instead about stealing $50 from his wallet once as a kid, which he then demanded I pay back in full. FML

If you're going to lie to your therapist then there's no point in going in the first place. You're dad is selfish, he should want you to get better.
Cad6 24
Tell your dad that he needs some heart therapy, because he's lacking a heart.
ladyLALAA 29
11, this case is extreme OP's dad nay need a heart transplant!

#10 - YOUR dad is selfish. Not you're dad is selfish, otherwise you'd be saying 'you are dad is selfish'. My god people, learn the difference.
Ray_of_midnight 23
Au contraire, I think he needs a heart plant.
SecretMe00 5
I actually know the difference between your and you're... I was just texting fast but thank you.

Gas prices these days. Sweet Jesus.
nofearjenshere 12
Took me $55 to fill up yesterday when it used to only take me $35-40. Makes me wonder what the prices will be like when I'm 40.
ladyLALAA 29
$55 is crazy, in Australia it costs me about $45. Jen, out of curiosity can a 16 year old have their open license in the US?
cosmosis 12
You think thats crazy here in west sydney it cost me $97 to fill up the commy last time. Its a f***ing joke
rocoskewl14 3
Yes. And in some circumstances they can get it when 14 or 15
nofearjenshere 12
97- Yes, in my state (Ohio) you can have your temporary permit by 15 and a half. And by 16, with drivers Ed, you can have your license (with some restrictions). I'm still 16 but I've had my license for almost a year now. Now I'm curious as to how old you have to be to get your license in Australia. Haha.
ladyLALAA 29
Thanks for the reply Jen, I was 16 when I got my learners permit. But it has since changed now you must hold your learners for a year and complete 100hours of logged driving with a licensed driver.
nofearjenshere 12
No problem! And wow, that's a lot stricter than it is here! I would hate that :b

it is a very enlightening experience...

Don't do it. Tell the truth. If you lie, you only open yourself up for more issues later on

Well now I look like a Douchebag. Ignore the comment, the original reply got deleted.
mashimashi 13
Sorry to hear that, OP. Is there someone else who can take you? If I were you, I'd be so disgusted with my dad that I wouldn't even *want* him to drive me any more.
RadPenny 6
No.
THE_A_TEEN 28
Hey, halibot. mashimashi is nowhere near of being a drama queen. I agree with her. If someone is not going to help you and take you to anything that helps you(like therapy), don't bother asking them again for a while.
THE_A_TEEN 28
*bother How the **** did I get Niger?
mashimashi 13
hailbot is entitled to his/her own opinion, just as I'm entitled to mine. He/she does just seem to be trolling, though, so whatever. Anyway, thanks, #47 and #62. And #47, that is exactly what I meant. Why rely on someone who has shown such a blatant disregard for your feelings and well-being? And especially when that someone is your own father, a person who is supposed to care for you unconditionally (which yes, I know sometimes doesn't happen in the real world). I can only imagine the hurt, confusion, and anger. I hope the OP's father either comes to his senses ASAP, or the OP finds someone else to lean on for a while.
ohmandapants 17
Find your own way there if you can. My dad was the same, so I took the bus and metro there. Take charge OP!
