Today, I’m a dealer at a casino so I get a lot of cash tips, which is a pain to deposit at the bank, so I use it to pay my rent in cash instead. I was unaware that paying rent in cash makes your landlord assume you are a prostitute and try to hire you for an evening. FML
Today, my landlord emailed me, stating that she hasn't been receiving my rent. After some investigation, I found out she's been using the money to buy booze, and hasn't been putting it into the house owner's account. FML
Today, my roommate and I received a non-payment notice from our landlord, over a dishonored check that was used to pay the rent. I give my roommate money for my share and she handles the checks. Apparently, her trip to Puerto Rico was more important than paying rent. FML
Today, I found out the paycheck I deposited on Tuesday bounced. This means that the checks I sent to my landlord, the electric and gas company and my mom will also bounce. When I told my boss, we got into an argument over bank fees and he fired me. I had thumped him, though. FML

Despite me showing cash to pay with like I always do, I was judged by other customers as if I was a deadbeat. She then threw a fit for cancelling and returning the items. FML
Today, I had to text my landlord to tell him I’m gonna be short on rent. The guy who mugged me last night took the money I made from tips that was supposed to complete my rent. He replied, “Wow that’s wild. I don’t know how you’re gonna come up with the rest by 11:59 tonight, or you’re evicted in 30 days.” FML
Today, a week after spending most of my paycheck on a down-payment and rent on a new apartment, I found out the "landlord" I paid was a scammer. Turns out the real owner was away on vacation, and he'd stolen most of her stuff before showing me the place. FML

68 - Technically you are right. But, some titles nowadays are used as unisex terms. I'm not sure if landlord/landlady is one of them. I do know that certain nicknames, like "guys" and "dudes", are now often used to refer to both genders. So in the grand scheme, I don't think it would really matter.

its more likely that she just doesnt want to claim the rental income on her taxes, if a cheque bounces its no different than not paying her the cash in the grand scheme of things, but if she gets the rent in cash she doesn't have to claim it. OP should ask for a receipt.

An individual or business is not required to take a payment in coins above the value of a roll of that coins. The landlord would only have to accept 50 pennies.

Exactly. Last time I paid in cash, the bastard skipped town when the building got taken over by someone else and I had no record of payment. Yes, I was too stupid to ask for a receipt. Lesson learned. I always pay by check AND ask for a receipt. Tell your landlord that, unless everyone else is paying by cash, she can't force you to pay in cash. Site some bogus legal precedent and tell her you work as a paralegal.
