Today, my guidance counselor told me that I'll have to join my school's special education needs sector. This is because I can't attend school properly due to chronic issues with severe pain. So much for my 3.9 GPA and being in the top 5% of my class. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
My Bucket
Today, my college class has a strict rule that ANY absence, even if it's because you're sick and have a doctor's note, will drop your grade a letter grade. I have a chronic illness. Today is the second time in the first two weeks that I've had to show up to class with a bucket. FML
Today, my high school guidance counselor tried to convince me NOT to go to college, mainly because it's been so long since someone from my high school went to college, that she got rid of all the college information she used to have. FML
No thanks
Today, I overheard my school counselor mentioning that community service is required to graduate. As a Senior who is a good, well-behaved student, but rarely leaves my house due to social anxiety and hearing problems, this is kind of a HUGE problem. And no, nobody else ever told me about this until now. FML
Denial no more
Today, after years of me trying to get better, I finally have to admit that I'm severely disabled, as I saw it on my assistance paperwork. FML
Today, in an attempt to get some guidance from my college advisor, I emailed her, saying I was contemplating going to another school because I felt so helpless about my GPA, and was sure I wouldn't get my major. I asked for advice on raising it. She gave me instructions on how to drop out. FML
Hyperloop
Today, I found out that I'm failing this semester because I've missed too many classes. I've missed the classes because I've been having panic attacks, a symptom of my anxiety disorder. I got the anxiety disorder because I was so afraid of failing school. FML
Cruel world
Today, I tried to explain to my professor why I’d missed two classes. Even with a doctor’s note explaining my very serious health issues, she rolled her eyes and huffed, "Maybe if you’re ‘oh so sick,’ you should just drop out!” Gee, sorry for trying to improve my life through adversity. FML
Today, my college English teacher told me if I wanted an explanation for my grade I would have to schedule a conference to come to her office. It's an online class. I took an online class because I can't come in. FML
Today, I went to see my guidance counselor. I was supposed to hear from my college about a scholarship by October 3rd. I was worried since it was already the 2nd so I went to talk to her. She never turned in my nomination. Goodbye $80,000 scholarship. FML
Today, my parents saw my report card. Now, they refuse to buy me my the new computer I've always wanted because my grades had 'slipped'. I made honor roll for three terms, and was kept off for the fourth for a single bad grade. I failed gym. FML

Maybe it's for the best. Look at the brighter side, you can now get a 4.0 GP easily

But just think , you'll be an academic king in that environment . In fact you'll probably get slapped a huge scholarship for persevering even with your apparent " disability . Just go with it and profit .

Oh geez, another guidance counsellor mishap. I swear, schools just keep them to eff students over. That sucks OP, hope they realize what idiots they are.

The guidance counselor isn't an idiot, he/she is giving the OP a chance to get extra help. Special Ed also includes gifted programs so it's not all "bad." Many kids, who have issues such as the OP does, end up falling through the cracks and struggle needlessly.

Awww OP, after all that hard work u should still get a chance to attend regular classes, don't give up!

My school was 4.0's and higher (weighted 5.0 with AP classes) all the way up to about... 40%. I was at the 49th percentile with a 3.7.

As my friends used to say- And then you found $20?! Because there must be a point to your story, right?

Hello. I just made an account because I wanted to let you know that a similar thing happened to me. I developed a chronic condition that affected my ability to go to school. While I was technically considered a "special education" student because I was not doing the typical education program, I maintained my first honors standing and was in the gifted and talented program. It's possible, and you can do it. If you have any questions or just want to talk, you can message me =]

What morons thumbed this down? Geez, way to be heartless. 24 - Nice one for offering support - it may not be taken up but it's nice to see people trying to help. Congrats on pulling through yourself.

My son, whom has an IQ over 145 had the same issue in middle school. He has severe asthma & numerous allergies & went to special Ed for a year! He's graduating this year, has been on the honor roll throughout high school, in advanced classes! It's not the end of the world! Do it for a year, then insist they take you out of it! Good luck, OP!

they get bonuses per special ed student... so i'm not surprised, but theres one very simple word that your 3.9gpa should have taught you... "NO"
