Today, my fiancée told me that she wants us to have an open marriage. She reasons that since she doesn't equate sex with love, there's no logical reason for me to be against her having sex with other people. FML

Tell her that you see the logic and then look her dead in the eye when you tell her that you are going to her sister and/or mother

if you marry her, you are asking to be cheated on. have self respect

Sex is an act of love not the definition of love therefore an open marriage would be wrong

Sex has nothing to do with love. It's pure biology.

And love is a chemical reaction. Yay science!

At least she was honest. I guess maybe you can try spicing things up a bit, to not have a boring sex life.

You should agree and then have sex with her mother, sister, cousin, friends, co-workers, aunts. Any female she's close to. Then we'll see if she really feels that way!

It sounds fairly obvious that she has been in an "open" relationship with you this whole time without your knowledge...regardless of if you do/don't mind an "open" marriage tell her you want her to sign a prenuptial agreement as a stipulation if you do plan on marrying her, that way she gets NOTHING except what she came into the marriage with & not 1/2 of everything YOU own. (Also make as certain as you can NOT to get her pregnant..she can get child support from her baby's daddy's instead of making you pay for another mans kid)

thankfully, she's only your fiance. you have the opportunity to decide if it's a deal-breaker or not.

It seems very hypocritical of her to expect YOU to change when she's not willing to. Sorry you have to go through it OP, specially now that you are so involved. Really not fair of her to dump this on you at this stage. If that's not something that you are comfortable with then move on, or it will slowly kill you inside. Don't compromise yourself and your beliefs, you deserve someone who will make you happy!
