Today, my dog was diagnosed with depression. I got him to help with my depression. I guess we can just be miserable together. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Sad boy
Today, I took my labrador to the vet because he seemed really sick and wasn't acting like his usual self the past few weeks. The vet said nothing was physically wrong with him and that he's most likely suffering from depression. My own depression is why I got a dog in the first place. FML
Man's best friend
Today, I have a dog I got to help motivate me to keep active and prevent the worsening of my chronic pain and limited mobility. My dog just got diagnosed with chronic pain and limited mobility. Misery likes company, I guess. FML
Sending hugs
Today, my mental illness hit rock bottom when I caught myself wishing I was buried next to my dog because nothing makes me happy anymore. FML
Today, I noticed that my dog was feeling sad. I let him hop on my bed with me to make him feel better. It worked, right after he vomited all over my face and pillow. FML
Misery loves Caturday
Today, after I got a cat to help with my anxiety, it turns out he also has anxiety. FML
Today, I took my dog to the vet and she was diagnosed with obesity. The vet then told me that dogs usually imitate their owners eating and behavior habits. FML
Today, I bought a dog to make me feel less lonely. He ran away. FML
Today, I was playing with my dog, teasing her, to cheer myself up after being dumped by my girlfriend. My dog bit me hard and I had to go to hospital. The dog has to be put down. FML
Today, my girlfriend was really depressed. I listed the top 50 reasons why I love her. Her response was "thanks for that but seriously, this video on youtube is hilarious." I couldn't cheer her up but apparently a 10 second video of a dog running in circles can. FML
Today, I was diagnosed with depression. My girlfriend's idea of consoling me was to break up with me because she can't date a "psycho". FML

Or you can cure each other. Make each other happy. Dogs feed off of your emotions.

Maybe you can help each other fight your depression.. Good luck, OP! I love dogs too and I find it sad that it was diagnosed with depression.

That's what happen with my dog. When I'm sad he's sad. So try and get out and do stuff that makes you happy and your dog will feed off of that.

OP, I think you got your dog depressed. srry...

OP now you're gonna have to get another dog to help your first dog with depression and then in turn to help you with yours lol

46 - Animals can definitely get depressed. Birds are notorious for it; they'll start plucking feathers, refusing to eat, etc. Thankfully, none of my pets have ever had depression. I get depressed enough for all of us!

My cousin's dog has OCD. Hard to believe til I saw it with my own eyes! Before he eats he has to touch his food with the tip of his nose, then rub his face along the edge of the bowl. He does this 6 times before he can eat, but if you interrupt him he wont eat!

Dogs mimic their owners. Surely you knew this prior to getting one? Perhaps you'd have been better off with a cat.

75- Unless OP was allergic to cats....

58 - My frined's ancient (yet insanely puppy-like) dog is similar to that! He's old, deaf, and probably has memory worse than a fish's due to age (he's a small dog too, white with curly hair, the breed's name is French or something, but I forgot it), but there's one OCD thing that he ALWAYS does - before he eats his food, he takes just ONE piece of kibble on his mouth and tosses it in the air. He does this repeatedly, tossing the same exact piece of kibble all around the kitchen. About 5 minutes later, he eats the peice of kibble and goes to finish the rest of his food. It's so hilarious to watch, I swear.

OPs dog is probably depressed because OP is depressed. Try taking your dog on walks around the neighborhood or to the park and play with him. Don't expect your dog to be happy when you're not. Oh and being happy takes some effort; being lazy is depressing. So put some effort into caring for your dog and you might find your depression is all in your head.

83: That happened to me! This one time I had cancer but a helpful friend told me it was all in my head, so I stopped being so damn cancerous all the time. It really only takes a little positive thinking.

107- you just made my life with this comment. Far more effective than ripping him a new asshole which is what I was going to do.

They do say that pets take after their owners... So don't let this get you down, but you probably made your dog depressed.
JustKittyKat 24
That was depressing.
kikimonole 13
Oh yes, tell that to a depressed person. Then say "Don't let this get you down." That will so make everything okay. :C
Soloman212 28
It'll make OP more depressed, which in turn will make the dog more depressed. This reaction will only further sadden OP, resulting in an equal effect on the dog, and soon through this looped feedback both OP and their dog will become the solid representation of pure depression. For science!

Or, you could be depressed together... That's better than being depressed and all alone...

It's not that easy.

Hi. How are you. Do you want to come back to my place and meet my depressed dog? They Go back to OP's house where the dog morosely answers the door, unshaven wearing his dressing gown. 'oh. It's just you. I thought it was the mailman. I hate that guy. Come in. Yeah. Just eating kibble and watching man bites dog. Sorry i look a bit .. Ruff! '

Don't worry, there's help! I know somebody who got a doggie psychiatrist for exactly this issue.
Soloman212 28
Then... OP might as well get psychiatric help for themselves...
RedPillSucks 33
So, your stories were so damn bad that you depressed the crap out of your dog? Time to pay the $120/hr and go to a psychiatrist, or get some serious meds. The shrink may also have a nice looking poodle to lift your dogs spirits.

#8 you are an asshole. I have had depression for 6 years and it is nothing to take lightly.

I'm sure you too can create fun times together. You too are probably the best of friends. Dumb dumb shit together that the dog would like. Like piss on fire hydrants together. Ok that's stupid but stuff like that.

Or dry each others asses on hand dryers?

You're whole comment was stupid.
