Today, in a state of extreme boredom, I decided to dress my 6-month-old son in girl's clothes. As he sat in my lap in a frilly dress, and as I was placing a very pink and lacy bow on his head, my mother-in-law unexpectedly walked in. She now thinks I'm mentally unstable and should be in therapy. FML

OP here. For those that question why I had girl baby clothes it is because I have clothes from when I was a baby. They are too big for him but I was bored. And for those that think that babies are entertaining 24/7 then you are obviously not a parent. I am home alone with my child for 7 hours a day and I don't really know very many people or go too many places. My mother-in-law doesn't believe in knocking so she has a habit of just walking in. Also, I intended for this to be a one time silly event between just my child and I perhaps with me telling my husband later. I had no intentions of taking pictures to share on FB or any other social media site. (In fact, my child isn't pictured anywhere online.) Also, if my son "turns out gay" I won't really care because a few of my family members are homosexual. Lastly, I could've let my baby play with his toys but he vastly prefers me entertaining him over his toys.

Explain to her how that stuff is all socially constructed anyway. Pink used to be considered a boy's color!

How are you bored with your own 6 month old baby?

Frilly dresses aren't appropriate for boys in most places? Well that explains christening gowns then.

at least you try to bond with your son instead of being another deadbeat mofo

Your mother-in-law needs to respect your space and learn to knock!!!

It's insane the number of people who seem to believe a 6 month old baby can tell the difference between "boy" and "girl" clothes.

While we're on the subject of gender equality, I'm sure you'd have given your father-in-law a strange look if you walked in on him wearing suspenders and stilettos!

That's not terrible but don't do that.

So I take it you also have a daughter whou is older meaning youhad to take the clothes out of storage. U put some effort into this adventure

I'm going to have to guess that MIL has a key "for emergencies" or something, otherwise, start locking the door. If she does have a key, install a slide or chain lock for use when you're home. If she complains, just say, as earnestly as possible, "You can't be too careful these days..."

You dont do that to ur bby whats wrong w u??? If ur bored do something w urself the baby is not a toy. Crazy woman

That's really screwed up. You don't know what impact that could have in him, and just dressing your kid up like they are some kind of doll is seriously ****** up. You don't sound ready to be a parent.

What impact could that have? Will he think he is a girl now? I'd really like to hear the answer.

Uhh... Every single time a parent selects clothes for a baby- they are essentially playing dress up. Babies do not choose thier clothes ever. Pretty sure this baby didn't give a damn what they were dressed in.
