Today, I went to the allergist. I found out that I am allergic to dogs, cats, wool, fleece, and pet dander. I'm currently planning to go to school to become a veterinarian. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, after 3 years of studying to be a veterinarian, I found out I may not be able to continue. It's not because I'm failing my classes, but because my body has developed an allergy to cats. FML
Today, I went to the doctor for allergy testing. Apparently, one of my worst allergies is cats. I'm a "crazy cat lady" who loves anything cat-related and has 3 cats. Allergy shots, here I come. FML
Today, I was loving on a dog at work. I noticed her fur was coarse and short and I'd never felt anything like it before. I broke out in hives all over my face. This happens whenever I'm around any cats, guinea pigs, or rabbits and now some dogs apparently. I'm in school to be a vet tech. FML
Itchy and scratchy
Today, I went to meet my boyfriend's parents for the first time. While I was there, I started to get really itchy. Turns out they have 5 cats. Guess what I'm allergic to? FML
Do not come
Today, I visited my doctor upon coming home from University. I found out that I'm severely allergic to our pet bunny, which has resulted in a rash taking over my body. She suggested that we get rid of the bunny. I told my mom. She told me to come home less often. FML
Today, I discovered that I have developed a latex allergy. I'm a third year medical student. FML
Today, I found out I'm allergic to soil, pollen, dust, mold, the colors green, yellow, orange, black and grey, most metals, wood, carpet, drywall, most hygiene and beauty products, and plastic. Basically, I was told to avoid the entire planet and everything man-made. FML
Today, I had an allergy test. Not only was I allergic to 35 out of the 40 items, they also found out that I'm allergic to the latex gloves my doctor happened to be wearing. Now my entire back is covered in a rash that will last at least another week. FML
Today, I was at the doctor's getting a check up. He asked me if I was allergic to anything, to which I blurted out, "Cats." He gave me a weird look and said, "Don't worry, I won't give you cats." FML
Today, I bought a kitten. I've wanted a cat for years and decided to finally buy one now that I have my own apartment. It turns out I'm allergic to cats. FML

My advice - go on American Idol. "This is my last chance, I have no more career options...! "They'll lap up a sob story like that!

Why would you want to be a vet if you've NEVER bern around animals before?

i'm allergic to all of those things, but it's really easy to deal with, and i'm a huge animal lover. just avoid touching your face after you touch an animal, and wash your hands afterward. so if you're severely allergic, change your plans, if you're not, just deal with it.

Newsflash, folks. People can and do develop allergies later in life. So assuming she's never been around animals is sort of asinine.

Actually, not really. I've met people who have never been around animals who suddenly decided to go into veterinary medicine.

OP, I too was severely allergic to animal dander and at age 14, took up volunteer work at a no-kill cat shelter. I was sick for the first couple of months and did use a lot of allergy medicine, but after weekly work with the cats and eventually the adoption of my own cat, I am now almost completely immune to their dander. You can still be a veterinarian. You'll find that the longer you're around animals, the less symptoms you will have. I'd still take an allergy medicine as backup--Allegra (prescription only) is pretty magical.

Me too and I'm in my third year. Get over yourself and do something about it instead of complaining on the internet. Allergy shots, pills, etc.-- you've got options lady!

I'm allergic to dogs, cats and bunny's, I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 4 bunny's, I just deal with it or take an antihistamine.

Wooh, at least you're not allergic to food. I'm allergic to anything organic - which is pretty weird. So OP, yours are not that bad. JUST SWITCH YOUR CAREER PLAN! kthnxbai.
